Has anyone else experienced a situation where you have reduced power after cruising along at highway speeds, but the power meter doesn't match what is actually happening? I'm trying to determine if this is "normal-ish", or if it something that I should bring up with the dealer at my next service appointment.

If I am cruising between 75-80mph, I do expect the electrical components to heat up a bit, and therefore do not expect the car to be a rocketship. However, in the past even if I had been cruising at 80mph for 20 minutes straight I would still be able to dip into the throttle and run it up to 100+ if I needed to find a gap in traffic to change lanes. Lately however, it will accelerate to about 85-87 and then hit an absolute wall. The first time it happened I thought I was surely about to experience another HVBJB failure, but no lights came on, and the car would drive normal. Over the course of the last few days I have made it a point to see what happens, and it always does the same thing. To add to the confusion, the "power limit" bars to the far right of the power meter do not move when trying to accelerate. In other words, the car shows that there is much more power left than what the car is actually letting me use.

This morning I decided to take a picture of the dash while performing the sequence that I am describing above, so that I could make this post. I did the sequence 4 times to take 4 different pictures so that i could have at least 1 decent picture. The really weird part is, on attempt #3 the car actually acted as it used to and threw me back in the seat a bit, and accelerated above 100mph. Of course this surprised me so much (and scared me a little) that I didn't get a picture of that sequence. On the 4th attempt, it went right back to no power. In the attached picture, the accelerator pedal is burried to the floor, but you will see that the power meter is not touching the "available power" bars.

So at this point it seems that it is a intermittent problem rather than a consistent problem. But, the problem happens way more than it does not. Has anyone else had this experience? Any and all help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Let me guess, it always happens at 88mph? It is your oil pump, you need to get an appointment with your dealer

Yes. It appears (to the best of my knowledge) that it is always at the 87-88mph mark.

I just went through this. Took a month to get fixed fyi. Most likely it’s the front motor. That said my car seems to slip the front tires a lot more now with the new motor off the line. More powerful and or efficient motor?

Good luck, and for lords sake, make sure they give you a loaner.

Yeah, mine got repaired as well. I hadn’t had a chance to come back on here and provide an update. I did get a loaner, but mine was fixed in 2 weeks. Mine was also the front.
