So, tonight as I always do I plugged in the car to charge so it's ready to go in the morning and does its usual preconditioning right before I go out the door at 5.am. However, tonight it decided to start preconditioning the vehicle, and I only noticed it after I walked away and got a notification that my cabin temperature was ready. I do not have any scheduled departure times until after 5:00 a.m. So I unplugged it, I got in and turned the car on and off to do a general power cycle of the vehicle, then plugged in the charger a second time and same thing happened with the preconditioning. I was only able to stop the preconditioning via the fordpass app by hitting stop charging wait a few minutes and then hit resume schedule and then it just charged this time. This may have been posted in the past I am not sure however my search criteria didn't get me any results I was looking for.

Thoughts?

Strange does FordPass specifically call it preconditioning or does it say “preparing to drive” instead. It sounds the same as preconditioning but its actually just cooling down the battery if its too hot outside.

It actually said preconditioning in progress (mobile app) and I got in the car and the air conditioning was on and everything.

Now and then the fans do kick on when charging. So last night initially I was like whatever and just walked away and then I got that notification that my cabin temperature was ready and I knew something was different.

I would clear any departure settings you may have in the mobile app and only make them in the car. I suggest this because there have been many complaints recently of issues with setting departure times with the app. Also are you using L1 or L2 charging?

I have an L2 charger, and sadly I have learned of the lack of reliability the Ford pass app has and do set the times locally from the car. I will try clearing them, letting the car charge again, and then input the departure times after to see if that helps.

FYI it's best if you clear out the charging times before a drive so the car has time to transmit the information to the cloud. If you change the settings and turn the car off right away, it might not have time to upload the changes.
