Preconditioning query

When I am not driving my MME it is permanently plugged into my switched on L2 charger in my garage and set to charge to 90% overnight on the cheap rate between 01:00 to 07:00. If I want to set a departure time to warm the cabin and precondition the battery outside these hours for example at 10:00 will that work or does the departure time have to be within the charging hours. Forgive me if this sounds too stupid but I am having difficulty getting my head round this?

The car will pull power anytime it wants to - including a departure time or remote start - unless you prevent it by having an intelligent charger set with the same hours. Then, you'd have to override the charger to permit the draw from the wall.
