I have just embarked on my third ultra long road trip to NJ, 1.200+ miles journey in two days of continuous driving with an overnight in Smithfield, NC.

On my first charge at EA in the Avenues Mall @JAX I met Patricia MacCormick from Ford Charge Angles testing a Premium AWD std battery ... then on my next stop at EA Walmart Lumberton NC I bumped into Rugero Fratarcangelli from FordLincoln Training Group testing a brand new orange GT !!!

Then while parked overnight, at Hampton Inn in Smithfield I got my OTA bringing my FordPower Up to v. 2.4.3 ... then just today parking under freezing rain in Hillsdale NJ I got another OTA now bringing my SYNC4 up to v. 2.4.4

... I really don't now what all this means but I am certainly excited. All these OTAs were successfully installed without connected to Wi-Fi ... I am just wondering since I purchased this vehicle in NJ and whether this influenced in my updates to be rapidly installed. When I was in FL I hardly got any OTA updates and the car connected to my garage WiFi every night. My car is a Job 1 production date of March '21.

Ford Mustang Mach-E updates ... updates ... UPDATES !!! 2.4.1 ...2.4.2 ...2.4.3 ...2.4.4. !!! sync4

Cool story. Based on what you and others have reported, I strongly suspect updates don’t happen over Wi-Fi (for example, — @ChasingCoral reporting that he had to go on a 30 minute drive for his updates to install). I now keep an eye on my home Wi-Fi and I never see the car do anything significant (at best a couple hundred KB to a couple of MB, not nothing “big”).

I know people don't frequent the forums as much as some of us regulars do, but... Have people also been under a rock? Especially those in EA?
Yep. I’m really becoming convinced that OTAs only happen via cellular, not Wi-Fi.

Every single OTA I've gotten has come through WiFi.
At least every time I've gotten an OTA, I see the same amount of data transferred to the car as the size of the update through my router.

But, they can also go through Cellular. I've just always been on wifi when they get released to my car.

Ford is pushing these out in waves ... initially to Early Access Program customers (but in batches ... not all EAP cars at the same time) and then to the rest of the cars.

From 2.4.4 you are about to get 2.4.5. Then it will switch to 2.5.1. After that update you *may* see a message in the car that says you have BlueCruise (you really don't ... but you are very close), followed by 2.5.2 (at which point you DO have BlueCruise and will likely get a notice in FordPass titled "Your Ford BlueCruise Feature is Ready" (and it is ready) ... but you'll likely get one more ... 2.5.3. At that point you are completely caught up.

It's happening pretty fast (like an update per day).

Three updates require that the car not be driven while they are applied. Two of which take about 30 minutes. The last one takes about 1 hr 15 mins. Since some features of the car will be disabled while it is updating, you are cautioned that you may not have access to open the car from the outside. Take anything with you that you might need before you start those updates.

Congrats! You are literally days away from having it running.

The updates can download over EITHER cellular or WiFi. But the car wont get them when it is asleep. For that reason, you'll tend to get the notice that there is an update ready to apply *while* driving (and not connected to home WiFi).

Which brings up an interesting question I’ve always had - what IS “asleep”?
Is it just anytime the car is turned off?
Sometimes, when I get into the car, I’ll get a message on the main screen (with a progress bar) that says something like “Shutting down to save power” (I forget the exact verbiage). Is it that?
Is it when the car doesn’t respond to FordPass, even if I’m standing next to the vehicle and connected via Bluetooth?

2.4.2 had already fully downloaded to my car. The drive was part of getting the installation to work.
