@buffasnow did you get your Mach-E yet?
Yes, I posted to the Mach Drop thread but not this one (until now). Hidalgo arrived late last Thursday, too late to do anything but grab a pic before the dealer closed. Got all the paperwork squared away Friday (including getting a new insurance card to meet NYS e-registration standards of Lastname<comma>Firstname<comma>Middle Intial). No comma between Firstname and MI = no registration. SMH.

Picked him up Saturday, put a few hundred miles on, then dropped him off Tuesday afternoon for PPF and ceramic. Hoping to get him back Saturday, the XPEL guys say that this is one of the easiest first-car installations they have done, the template is exceptional. Will post another pic once the car is fully protected from salt & stones.

How much XPEL coverage did you get on the car and what was the cost? Nice to hear the template came out so well.

Great name and color.

Thanks, Scott!

I was talking about my initial estimate of 2900-3K for full front, mirrors, wheel wells, door pillars, and rear bumper with my wife. She said "Why not just do the whole thing?" So I bit the bullet for 6K for every painted exterior surface, plus PPF on the shiny black around the interior center console and full glass coating (something similar to ceramic). More than I had intended, but I was impressed with their work on some very expensive cars when I visited. I decided that paying a bit more for the guys that do this all day every day was ultimately the right choice for me.

When I told the shop guy about my wife's suggestion, he was amazed. He said they often have guys slip them 1000 or 1500 in cash on the sly so when they bring the spouse at pickup, the total to pay is that much less........

Across the lake from Rochester in Cobourg, ON. BTW, I used to race "R" sailing boats at Sodus Bay, back in day.

I had my eyes on a Honda Clarity 2 yrs ago, but kept in touch with battery development and decided to wait. Ordered a First Edition in Carbonized Gray; hope to get it in time for Christmas! Strange name for a colour on a Zero Emissions vehicle. LOL
It was a bit late for Christmas, but my MMe FE finally arrived last week.

Had it ceramic finished with 5yr guarantee and winter tires installed the same day. Ontario & Upstate New York generally share the same weather. I live across Lake Ontario from Rochester.

David, what color stitching was used for the interior? The red brake calipers look awesome with that color. BTW, what snow tires did you have put on it? I will need a set by next winter.

Congrats, David! Don't forget to update your profile!

I will be looking at winter tires for next year as well, ideally with some reasonably-nice-looking-but-not-ridiculously-expensive rims.

I know we should be looking for tires with at least 103 rating because of the MME's weight.....did you find many appropriate choices? Did you stick with the 225 width?

Hi everyone. I’m located in Syracuse and I’m getting my Mach E hopefully next week!

1. trying to figure out home charging . People mentioned checking with utilities for any rebates. I have national grid and have found programs for commercial business but nothing for home level 2 chargers that I could find. Is that accurate?
I saw one of you had the charge point , can you or others provide your feedback for your brand of unit?

Anyone else in the Syracuse area do any upgrades? Like:

wrap/ paint protection - worth it? And where?
Aftermarket Trailer hitch for bike rack? If so, is there a place locally that installs?
Was there a specific electrician in syracuse that was used for installation? Approx how much did it cost?

Any other advice?

I had Xpel put on the front, headlights, partial hood and mirrors from CNY Solar Protection (ask for Bruno). I had 5 year Ceramic Pro protection put on by Absolute Detail and Wash (ask for Kevin). Check out their websites for details. Worth it as I will be driving the Mach-E all year around.

Search around the forums for the bike rack/hitch solution.

I had a 220V 50 AMP service with NEMA 14-50 plug put in previously for a plug-in hybrid car I leased. Cost $600 back in 2018. Will depend on your current electrical service. You can use the charger that comes with the Mach-E to plug into it.

Make sure the dealership knows about the New York EV rebate. If you are planning on using Ford Options financing, make sure the dealership knows about it, too.

National Grid does have a discount rate for EV charging during off peak hours. Click here: https://www.nationalgridus.com/time-of-use

Take your car out for a test drive BEFORE you sign anything without a salesperson. Take your time. Stop in a parking lot and look it all over. Open all the doors, the liftgate and frunk. There is a checklist here on the forum for more things to look for.

Ordered a Draw-Tite hitch and wiring harness (just in case I tow something). Mavis Tire is a local installer and they quoted me $90 for the install but I had to order it online as they said they have trouble ordering. Hopefully in a week I can report results once it arrives.

I have a hardwired 60A Tesla box and a 50A JuiceBox, both work well but I need an adapter if I want to use the Tesla charger. Wiring cost depends on your service and how far and difficult it is to fish the wires. I would say get some quotes since they vary greatly and like most things right now there might be some long lead times for chargers and electricians. And there used to be a federal tax credit for 30% of a home charger, hopefully that is still out there and saves some $$$.

Doesn’t help to add you should have it purchased and installed before taking delivery, you can charge with 120V but realistic if you do much driving. Hopefully you can get by using free level 2 chargers at work or nearby.

Thanks so much for the advice and location advice! Thanks to the site, getting the rebate, with Ford options. I've got the checklist printed out ready to go, thanks for that advice.

Looks like the tax credit was extended from what I can tell, that will help!. Thanks.

Agreed on the ideal to have the electric done before delivery, but my wife pivoted from getting an extended Expedition to getting a Mach-E. Funny how 1 test drive can make such a difference in priorities :> So scrambling. We have some flexibility for the time being and don't have much work commute. Is there an easy way to find out where these free level 2 chargers are?

In regards to the Draw-Tite Hitch, how does it look installed in comparison to the eco-hitch/torklift or any other ones you looked at? (eco-hitch which looks like it is more expensive and would require self install. I have a flip up thule bike rack and I saw some comments about the eco hitch being a little short and people using an extension.

Appreciate the feedback.

The Plugshare app is your friend. Most car dealerships have them and are free. I seem to see them at some town offices and the Auburn parking garage has one. Destination chargers are about but if they are Tesla chargers you need an adapter, for example, Mirabeau Inn and Spa in Skaneateles has them as do most casino. Again Plugshare will find them as will your MME.

The downside is you need to leave the car for a few hours, most are probably 50A chargers so you add about 10KWh in a one hour session, assuming you were to average 4 mi/KWh, one hour will add at most 40 miles of range. Fine for at home but DCFC will save some time. You will get 250KWh of free charging at Electify America so figure out a charging strategy until you can charge at home.

hi. i live in rochester. i forget who said this, but i installed a draw-tite on the back of my select on the first night i owned it. i would happily help someone do this if you came to my house. i have all the tools. you can even charge while we do it.
the only hard part was bench pressing the hitch into place while simultaneously threading the bolts. this would be far simpler with a helper! my 7 year old son was not much help, although he was really good at handing me the right parts which was essential

it's dark out but i can take some photos if interested tomorrow. it works perfectly with my kuat rack. no extension needed.

Apparently I missed this thread last year. Oops. Being bored in a hotel means I’m just surfing and stumbled across it. So I’ll “watch” here from now on in case there’s anything going on. Looking forward to a car and coffee in Syracuse soon.
