Quick question - I’m testing out a dash cam and powering it with the 12v cigarette outlet in the storage bin under the armrest. I understand that this is a partially switched outlet - it will stay hot for maybe 10mins after turning off the car. That’s fine for me - I don’t intend to run the cam in parking mode - but has anyone experienced a detrimental drain on the LVB from powering a dash cam in this manner? I’d prefer to not be plugging and unplugging the cam every time.

If you have FORScan software or know anyone that does locally you can change the time that 12V outlet shuts down to something shorter like 1 minute if you want.

Nope!

Powered my dash cam from that power outlet since June ‘21, 121,500 miles, never unplug it, haven’t changed the power down timenever been a problem.

Routed cabling tidily to top centre of windcsreen.

You’ll be fine!
