It didn't allow code entry again after 5 min?
From the owner's manual

System Lockout
The system locks after five attempts of
trying to enter a Backup Start Passcode,
resetting a current passcode or entering
an incorrect Valet Mode passcode.
Note: The system remains locked for five
minutes. After five minutes the system
allows codes to be entered again.
I think that’s until you have three unsuccessful attempts. After that you’re done.

I still don't understand why people just don't pop the battery out and put the two in the same bag together. Takes just a few seconds and then you don't have to worry that the signal will ever "leak" from a faraday bag or tin foil.
Why didn't you suggest that in the aluminum foil post...could have saved me. My kids laughed at me when they say it which is why I finally upgraded to a pouch. ?

To be honest that thought never crossed my mind and after I read your response I was a bit dumbfounded that I didn't think of that. Great idea, I might have to test that out.

I probably wouldn’t have thought of taking the battery out either, but I still don’t understand why use PAAK in the first place, if you need to carry the FOB

there has to be a good reason I am missing , other than we think it’s cool.

Ok so personally, I have a key fob in my vehicle and I had to put the battery in and give it to the dealership when I had HVBJB failure. I keep mine in a highly secure top secret area, not in the cabin, maybe under a beauty panel in the frunk, but maybe not ...

The reason I don't like the fob is because it's one more bulge in my pocket. I'm good with just one bulge, no need for two. That just looks funny.

I am not using the fob. It is there, wrapped in tin foil, stuck in a super secret place in my laptop bag just in case my HVBJB fails. I never use it, never carry it and it is like it doesn't exist. PaaK has never stranded me.

yes it could be a lot thinner, the FOBs for my other cars are much thinner and only create a mini bulge. I won’t go into any further details, except I wear cargo shorts most of the time and they have lots of pockets.

Its very cool...and allows me the freedom to be without a key but it does come with limitations. This is one of them. I think soon enough a backup\valet key will be a credit card-sized device like Tesla's have. This is just the evolution of cool stuff and we are all the beta testers.

Nothing they can do. My car sits awkwardly where I left it.
Why not just give them your backup code? It would be no different than having given them your key fob, and you can change it once you are back.

What if the backup code doesn’t work like mine didn’t today. Anything can happen, less chance of a key fob going bad but I am sure it has.

I meant in this specific situation with the car stuck, agree I've had an issue with the backup code before too.

If only Ford weren't so cheap and insisted on grabbing a fob from the parts bin. A fob with a chunky key blank for a car with no key locks. All they had to do was design a new case without the key. All the same electronics could have been repackaged. Just imagine a fob designed for their budding EV line, thin and with a frunk button.

The PAAK future should have come with a fob in the glovebox. One with limited functionality that gets enabled by turning on a mode in the car settings requiring the presence of a paired phone or fob and pass code. It could include modes/restrictions/vehicle settings for valet, car wash, towing, service, etc.

giving this more thought as I watch a rerun of law and order, will switch to football soon.

if I take the battery out of the key Fob and hide both , I will now have three different things I will need to find in the MME at some point.

battery,
Key Fob
and Apple air tag

after two months I will have no idea where I put any of them. It’s not like I am 25. I almost forgot where I put the AirTag the other day. Yes I could have used my I phone for the AirTag but I don’t think it’s that exact, maybe it is.

I will have to place an AirTag with the key fob and then tape the battery to an air tag, so I have to buy 2 more air tags. But won’t a thief who has an I phone know that I have air tags.

I think I will stop with all of this this, too confusing and maybe just carry the key with me and no PAAK

gets expensive.

No, don't separate the battery from the fob. Keep them together, just take the battery out of the fob. Put them in the same bag.

The idea is that without the battery the fob won't do anything. I don't trust tin foil or Faraday bags to work reliably but no battery is guaranteed to work.

If you have problems remembering things try using your phones note app or whatever works best for you. My dad, in his 60s, uses notes in LastPass. He always has them with him that way.

Aha, excellent , now I need only one extra air tag.?. I was just trying to make it extra difficult if they found one without the other.

I have to think of an extra special hiding place that I may actually remember
