Hello, when I plug in my Mach E to EA DC fast Charger, while the vehicle is on, it seems to be switched to Accessory mode and a red battery indicator symbol in the instrument panel, also the start/stop button is blinking green. This is my first time dc fast charging so im not sure if this is a normal behavior. I noticed everything stay on except the AC.

1) is this a normal behaviour
2) how can I dc fast charge and have the vehicle on with AC.

Thank you.

Try turning the vehicle back on (foot on brake and start button) after you start the dcfc session.
Thanks for the reply I will try that next time. I didnt even notice it went into accessory mode until I feel the air not cold in the ac.

Yes, you can simply restart the vehicle.

Note - while it not matter in Floriduh, in cold climates Ford suggests NOT running the heat while DC charging, because they're trying to warm the battery.

Stupid question I have been doing this more frequently since we got YouTube. Is it ok to be in accessory mode while DCFC. This doesn't drain the LVB? Because we don't want that right? THE DCFC is charging the HVB and LVB?

I don't know. But why not just turn the car on -- instead of accessory mode -- so you don't have to worry about it. Plus this way you can use the HVAC if you want to.

I kind of hate this carry over from ICE cars, it’s so confusing. There’s no reason why you would just want to run off the 12v right?

Mine does this too. While I gues it’s easy enough to just start the car, it’s frustrating because it happens on its own and you don’t notice it’s in accessory mode. It can certainly create 12v battery issues depending on the length of the DC session

You don't want to run the heater in the first 10 - 15 minutes when DC fast charging during cold weather, per Ford.

The car switches to Accessory Mode. No real reason to start it.

I haven't studied it to see if it is the 30 minute timer, or what.

It won't let me turn the car on when I'm plugged in, DCFC. or I am doing it wrong.
