Virtual key is moody

Hi all,
New to this forum. I've had my Mach-E for about a month now. I can't figure out if it's my phone, the app, or both. I have a Pixel 5 Android 11.
My virtual key is not dependable. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to make it work reliably?
Do you keep the fordpass on all the time? Does the app need to be on for the key to work?

Grant all background permissions to the FordPass app, and make sure it is always running on your device. If it causes battery drain on your Android, then switch to carrying the FOB instead.

Paak does not work well for many and neither does the backup passcode. Ford has been incompetent at fixing. For most of us Ford refuses to provide a second fob. There are other minor glitches Ford has been unable to fix for a year now. Soon you will get tic-tak-toe to keep you occupied while trying to get your car started. Welcome to the cub.

I just went down the hole by searching PAAK (phone as a key). First step was figuring out what the bleep PAAK stood for. Then thanks to others I figured it out. And WOW...
Ford really should give us a second key or figure out a facial recognition program since they're already cameras...

Just be sure to memorize your door code and backup start code... You won't be stranded and your phone can recharge while you're driving.
