Don't get me wrong - I enjoy a patronizing response as much as the next person, but the reality is the LiveWire costs 40% as much as the GTPE I ordered but comes with 2x the free charging.

Ford is being cheap, no matter how they justified it.

The live wire costs 40% as much but also comes WITH 2 wheels less, 75KWH battery less. Less seating. No seatbelts. No airbags. No…. Car. 2 years of free charging on that thing probably adds up to less than 250KWH.

You do make some great points!

We should spend a few more pages explaining to the OP what makes a motorcycle and a car different.

We also have a rear window wiper, the motorcycle does not.

This reminds me of a farmer buddy of mine complaining that his seed corn salesman was cheap because he didn’t get a “free” ball cap with his $30,000 seed order. ?

Comparisons of Electrify America and the VW Group--which includes Porsche and VM id.4--are wrong.
With VW offering freebies is akin to moving a transaction on a financial ledger from one column to another--it all ends up under one large umbrella of cost. They buy electricity at low cost and since they already own EA chargers, for them the additional cost is not as large as it would be for outsiders like Ford.

If Ford did that, it would not be equitable. Some people would get more by constantly sucking on that free tit, but all of us would pay for it.

It is stupid like the OP's argument.

Not that it matters, because this whole argument is dumb, but last year a bunch of Mach E owners got 500 kWh free.
Yup, getting that extra 250 was like super important to me at the time. Now I realize there’s no way I’ll ever use it. I think my balance is at around 450 nearly a year in.

Everybody’s use case is different. I know there are owners (I bet fewer than 10%?) like the OP who could legit use more free EA charging. But even for those folks, you then have to evaluate the cost of that “free” charging by comparing the price of at least somewhat comparable vehicles. I suspect the $200? more in free charging is negligible in the overall cost comparison.

This thread reminds me of the Tesla subs on Reddit that freaked out when Tesla stopped giving a full year of free premium connectivity. It came to something like an extra $90 on a $50,000 car, but people were furious.

I think people are over value the free charging. In 1 year I have used roughly 250-300kwh of the 500 free ford gave me.

Let's be honest most of the charging has been done at home, work, or at a hotel. The fast charging is not used as often as most people think. I would rather the cost of the car be reduced more with ford having a fixed cost and we don't all have to pay for the 1-2% mega users.

True and I would argue that Ford's market is the mid-market, where "free" things often entice people to buy. It's one of those things that couples use against each other ... "Honey, it's only 10k more than an ICE vehicle and we get 2 years of free charging" ... "Ok, well I guess that justifies it". Illogical, irrational or otherwise, we all know it works.
I would say that might apply more to a “mass market, practical” vehicle, like a hypothetical “electric escape”. I think it might matter less for a car whose purchase decision is a bit more emotionally-based, like a Mustang (Mach E). Every single person who’s asked me about it has immediately commented on looks before anything else. In fact a couple driving a new BMW M something or other (sorry, recognize the M badging but I don’t pay attention to their models) when talking to me said “she took one look at it and wants one NOW.” And this was with just a walk around of my unwashed car and a look inside. He was a little interested in some of the “technical specs”. She was all about the look. I’m sure she’s not going to care about a single watt of free charging. ? that said, yes, there will be those for whom it’s a discriminator. Perhaps Ford can toss in the free charging the way they do “bonus cash”? I don’t know.

I've used fast charging 6 times since June 2021. 3 EA and 3 Charge Point because there are no EA station on the travel routes I use. I'd buy the BMW if that buck tooth grill went away as I have always like BMW for the sporty edge, now they look like 3rd cousins from Alabama...
