Weird audio issue with Android Auto

Sometimes when I'm using Android Auto it seems like my music or podcast are coming out of the "phone speakers" for a lack of a better term. Like the speakers that are usually used for phone calls. If I press the microphone to give the Google Assistant a command I can hear the music come out of the rest of the speakers for a brief moment before the tone sound for the assistant plays to let me know it is ready to receive a command. It almost seems like either the car or Android Auto thinks I'm in a call rather than listening to music. Is this an Android Auto issue or would anyone know if there is anything I can try to fix this? It isn't always, but it does seem to happen more often than not.

On iPhone this used to be a bug in old software but if I would activate Siri or voice dictation it would fix the issue. Wonder if this is a similar bug. Did you try rebooting your phone?

This may be caused by a background app that is holding the microphone open.

Wyze used to be guilty of this (and might still be, I don't know). If I'd viewed a camera feed in Wyze, and then switched to Home or another app, I'd get the phone audio codec through the Bluetooth connection instead of the music codec.

So, check your phone's multitasking screen to see what apps are potentially running in the background, and close them one at a time while observing the audio issue. This will let you know which one was the offender.

I think you are right. It looks like it may have been Discord that caused this. Next time it happens I'll check for that again, but that looks to have been it. Thanks for your help!
