At 33,700 miles I replaced the OG tires with Hankooks. All is well. So far, all of a day later.

What was weird was when the tire store were done, the tire pressure reading on the back right tire was 5 lbs lower than the others. I figured after swapping the tires the monitoring system might need to figure things out, so I wasn't terribly worried. But that said, since just one was low and I was there, I asked them to double check. The tire pressure was, in the real world, where it should be.

As I was driving home, the pressure measurement went up a few lbs. All is good, it's catching up, great.

Then, a few minutes later, it's the front right tire pressure that's a few lbs lower. The off-kilter measurement MOVED. Back right was correct and the front right, which had been fine is now a few lbs lower.

Weird.

Your TPMS sensors are likely getting low on juice or are just malfunctioning. There was another post recently where someone got tires replaced and one of the TPMS was reporting incorrectly (also low). That person had to get that sensor replaced. 🤔🐩

I relish getting into a finger pointing episode between the dealer and the tire shop.

Too bad they don't use the wheel centripetal force plus suspension bounce to run a piezo-electric generator and power a (small) super-cap or battery. 🤔

When the tires are rotated, it can take a few miles of driving before the system figures out exactly which tire the TPMS sensors are on again. My guess is the car figured out which wheel the low reading TPMS was on which is why it moved.

Check the front tire, if it's properly inflated and the TPMS is still off - have your tire shop fix that TPMS sensor. My guess is they checked the back tire and said all good and the front is actually low.

Flux Capacitor. Or Mr Fusion. I can never remember which does what. Physics isn’t my forte after all. But replace one of those, both just to be safe. All the TPMS problems will vanish after that.

I agree on replacing them all when you replace your tires. As for the physics of my suggestion, I'm pretty sure it could be made to work, but my guess is that the cost/weight doesn't make it worth it, especially since there could be other reasons why the sensor could become defective.

Discount Tire replaced all of my sensors when I bought new tires recently without me even thinking about it. I watched them closely when they jacked the car up so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw them putting in new sensors.

Turns out to be the case. The front right was low. All fixed. And, it seems the TPMS system, once it got unconfused on which tire was where, is working as expected.

Yeah you just need to ignore what it says for the first five miles after a tire change or rotation until it sorts itself out.
