- Ford Fusion, Mach E soon?
Maybe, but it's likely the rear motor update also comes with other updates like a new inverter, updated motor frame, and updates to the brakes (assuming the new motor doesn't have a parking pawl). I'm not sure they'd want to have that level of variability in the production line, especially if the new motor is less expensive being an in-house design. The GT prior to 2024 has the BW motor unit in both the front and the rear. According to the stuff I've seen about the new motor, it is only going into the rear on the GT. This would indicate that the front motor unit on the GT is still BW. It would follow that since Ford is still purchasing that unit the rear motors on the Premium and Select are this same unit. Then again, I may be completely wet. I get wet when fetching ducks and geese. ?‍?
It's possible that the delay for the GTs is that they're not done redesigning the front end layout for an updated big front motor. It's also possible that there are other GT needs being addressed in the Job 2 update, such as bigger busbars in the battery pack or a redesigned HVJB. Those things probably need to happen to totally get rid of performance throttling.
