mine died at 40 months, no warning.

I drove to a job site, got out shut the door, door locked behind me and BAM... would not unlock.
I was so afraid that this would happen to me too so i ordered a new battery today ?

Build date 5/23, purchased 3/24, 6700 miles and OG battery so far.

I suspect the seemingly high failure rate is due to a combination of:

1. How long the car sat on the dealer lot unused (and temps exposed to during said sitting).
2. The initially poor battery management parameters implemented by Ford (and temps exposed
to during this time).

Hopefully replacement batteries will last longer with the better battery management parameters being implemented in newer software updates.

I suspect that the earliest (2020-2021) 12v batteries that are still working fine still greatly outnumber the ones that have failed. I wonder what the numbers actually are.

I think they also haven’t be produced by the same manufacturer.

My car was built april 2021, delivered june 2021.
Still the first 12V battery.

Last week I checked the battery with my odb2 dongle.
During a drive the battery had a SOC of 92% and about 14,2V
I think that's ok.

Your 14.2V is measured whilst it’s being charged by the DCFC converter managed by the car’s battery management system so is the charge voltage not the LVB’s voltage, is irrelevant to the LVB’s state of charge and less relevant to its state of health (SoH) which is the important measure of battery health, not necessarily the SoC which is just state of charge.

Post up! and for everyone over 3 years old, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well?
I received my AWD in Denmark in November 2021 and I have never had any problems with the 12V battery.

July 21 build, died July 24 ?

36 months. I started getting the lvb warnings after my HVJB replacement and it died a few weeks after that. Dealer had the car for roughly a week I think that did it in.

I bought a new one and pulled the old one out, put it on my charger and it seems fine ?‍♂ on the floor of my garage holding 12.4V off charger. Do I trust it ?‍♂

lol...ask the others who ended up stranded if they has " no signs of failing"....
Lets make a betting poll to see if this 12V battery can reach 5 years.--November 2025.

Swapped it out since this forum gave me PTSD, but it was working fine before I removed it. Any idea if could be the original? Mines a 21 Job1 Premium.

New one has different lables.
I notice the code 20271 on the left side... I think that's date of manufacture. 271st day of 2020.

Same vehicle, built Dec 2020, still have the original 12V. I am thinking that it is time to replace it.

42 months and 59,000 miles. No issues <searches for wood to knock> I asked my dealer about it, and the service guy kinda shrugs and says I could have it checked "somewhere." DCH Ford in Thousand Oaks, CA does not seem to know much about these cars. I asked them to change my brake fluid, and they had never done one before, so they did not know how to do it, how long it would take, or how much fluid it holds. He pretty much said to just leave it with them and after they do the job, they will let me know how much it cost. They are useless over there, so I left.
Spoke too soon! My 12V battery just died last night. No warning. Drove several places that day, and then the last place my wife parked, it died. I went to my local Ford dealer, who tried to charge me $150 for the $130 MSRP battery (Part# BAGM-H3). There is an $18 core charge that you get back when you bring them the old battery. It took me 30 minutes start to finish. You have to remove a couple of panels to get to the battery, and unbolt and slide over he strut brace bar. You'll need a 10mm socket with extension, 8mm socket and 18mm socket. Very easy to do. I asked the dealer what they would have charged, and they said $230 and they said it takes an hour. I told them I did it in 30 minutes, and the service guy told me I need to have them reset the BCM for $115. I looked that up on YouTube, and apparently, Ford cars reset the BCM automatically if you let the car sit for 8 hours. If you are at 36 months, get a new battery. If you are over 36 months and think yours will not die, like I did...get a new battery.
