I really think Ford should have put this through some kind of Turing test before release. Like give the engineers a fob/phone and a car programmed to either one of them. If they're unable to tell if their car is utilizing, then the system works and can be released.

A lot of people are holding PaaK to this standard, which is why we see all the posts here.

For me, the puddle lights come on when i approach 20% of the time, the door opens with 1 click 60% of the time, with 2 clicks 80% of the time, by opening the app on the phone 98% of the time, and by using the unlock button in the app 100% of the time.
I would classify this as being OK. Others would probably get their panties in a bunch. It really just depends on your tolerance.

What we need is a notification from Ford when they are playing with the system or there is an outage. That would help me. Carry the fob when updates are happening and I can test after, and resume the use of PAAK after I confirm it works. Just a PAAK or FordPass Status page. Red or Green or Yellow....... Or just carry the fob, which I am now.

I do have to say, this is a tremendous effort by Ford. It is not a failure at all, either. Think of all the brands of Phones, Ipad, iphone, Google tablet and finally android phones, different operating systems, different apps on them, different BT connections......and PAAK has to work with all of them.

Folks demand that their car keys work all the time, I think they expect PAAK as well.

I give them kudos. I think it does work OK, they do give you an alternate way and if we want 100% perfection, carry the fob I guess. I do not know if it CAN ever be 100% perfection, knowing all the potential differences that each of us have with our phones.

Mine, too. Up until yesterday which I already posted separately. And yesterday was somewhat of an outlier to my routine so particularly inconvenient and annoying, though I never lost patience and never became stranded.

It does, however, have me rethinking the auto-update setting in the car. I bought a year 1 model with open eyes but I may revert to manual checks and monitoring forums for now or at least when I'm going to be away from home for some time/distance, in order to avoid a repeat of yesterday.
Odd thing Richard, mine was flaky as all get out yesterday. Today it's happy and functioning just as it's supposed to.

I see the "almost" in your post. .....

So you have NEVER had any delay opening the door or it finding your phone upon approach? 100% of the time, the buttons illuminated before you got to the car, not even 10 seconds, 5 seconds for them to unlock? Never pressed the door button and the door/hatch did not open/present using PAAK? Not even once?
As someone who works with Bluetooth for living, I can assure you, those are properties of the protocol.

There is a reason why Apple wrote their proprietary wrapper for it, and why W/U1-equipped devices work.

Flawless interoperability with 100% repeatability is really, really, really hard. I don’t think anyone has ever succeeded in it.

I'll cross my fingers that when I check on it after work my car and phone will recognize each other again and play nicely.

Had FSA 21B36B installed this morning.
Changes in performance:
Sends phone a message when walk away locks
PAAK overrides fob, when carrying both, when trying to unlock drivers side. It takes two tries now. Previously, the fob overroad the phone and it opened right away, first press.
Drivers door and driver's passenger door will not unlock when using phone alone. Previously would open w/ phone alone after 2nd or 3rd try.
"View Important Notice" in vehicle window is now orange instead of red.
Drains phone battery at even faster rate (at least 2X faster than previous extremely fast drain)

Other flaws still there for now, eg. partial response (red), 2021 Ford Edge, no SecuriAlert, etc.

I will give it a couple of days or so and then evaluate.

My paak has been working fantastic lately (touching wooden desk). Actually for months the fob is in a faraday bag and I have had no major issues with the phone other than Karma being a bit silly once and a while. Is it perfect no but what is? Paak be damned driving, charging and maintain is where it is at for me after that not too concerned. The whining here has got a bit much lately but once it starts many jump in. When it comes to forums newbies will seek them out and not because they are having no problems. If you look at the big picture this is one fantastic car.

My PaaK started working suddenly -- I opened the app one day last week and got the notification that PaaK was active. Curious, I walked out to the MME and sure enough, it worked. Tried it again today, and nothing ... until I took out my phone and opened the app, then it connected and PaaK worked. Is it supposed to work that way, only when you open the app? I excluded FordPass from deep sleep on Android, so it shouldn't be due to that.

Anyway, it's not something that I will ever, ever, ever use in place of my fob (I don't trust it at all), but good that it works now just in case I ever have the need.
