Why charging door is not lockable?

Since most ICE car fuel doors need to be opened via a latch inside the car, is there any rational for Ford not to have done the same for the MME charging port door?
I'm not a fan of drive through car washes, but even a hand wash often results in playing wack-a-mole with that door!

You may have a defective charge port door latch. I had to have mine repaired to get it to work reliably.
There’s no real reason to require a lock - your port is not bi-directional so no one is going to siphon your charge.

Never put mine through an automatic brush car was yet.

Usually wash myself.

When feeling especially lazy I take it to the jam rolls who might never get rich digging a ditch down working at the car wash, dodut do do do do do do, at the car wash where I generally lose around 10 Great British Pounds.

I was going to say "never been in an automatic car wash in nearly 50 years of driving", then you said this. I hand-wash and never has the door come open. Not once.

Not quite there yet. When I’m not updating something in or around the house, or working, I’m not car washing.

Maybe I’ll try to negotiate with the magical house elves who vacuum my floor and open/close my window blinds for me.

Wow... !, and I was only worried about it ripping off at the car wash ?.

My car wash used to put a small piece of masking tape to hold the door shut, but they stopped doing that. It has popped open late in the washing cycle but luckily no damage, and it’s only happened twice in dozens of visits.
