But I also think that eventually charging technology will catch up to the point that it won't take more than a few minutes to charge and go, much like gasoline fillups now.
I don't think it's going to happen any time soon. Not only because the batteries degrade when high current pumped through them, but also because of the power required. If we want to charge a 100kWh battery in 5 minutes, the power will be required 1.2MW from every plug. An average 1GW nuclear power plant will be able to charge only 800 cars at a time, likely less due to losses. You will need nuclear power plants all over the place.
Also taking into account that about 10% goes to heat during charging you will have about 120kW heat that needs to be dissipated, not counting the need for very thick cables and cooling, which might not be practical.
That's by the way another reason why battery electric Semis are not viable.

Ford has announced a navigation update to remove the gas stations. However, you must sign an agreement to never use these locations for bathroom breaks, or refreshments. Then, when you find a charger, if it's at a gas station, you're not allowed to use it. :D #FirstWorldProblems
Fine with me because on road trips Starbucks is the go-to pee stop! ?

The Mach-E was developed in the midwest (Does Michigan consider themselves the midwest?). In the midwest gas stations serve as food/bathroom stops on those long interstate stretches (especially since during "construction season," (aka half the year) the rest stops are often inaccessible due to construction blockages.

If you don't want to see them on the map, in the navigation app, tap the wrench icon in the lower left, then select Settings > Map and Vehicle > Map Layers > Select Points of Interest. In that dialog, deselect the Fuel Stations, and they will no longer show up in your maps (but they still exist in the map data, so you can find them if you really need a bathroom break).

Thanks SpacePony. I looked everywhere, but I missed it.

Is there a way to remove them?
Probably because most of the system is shared with other Fords. Have you checked the Navigation options to see if you can turn them off?

I do find this topic humorous. It is handy to know where the gas stations are so I can pick up sushi and hot dogs, and find a bathroom afterwards.
However, to actually find a level3 when I'm on the road, I have to check multiple apps on my phone. Ford, Electrify America, ChargePoint, EV Connect, AppleGreen...
You'd think if the charging networks wanted to make money, they'd be happy to funnel their collective info into the Ford app and Ford navigation system.

Theres a filter in the native nave the prevents lower Plug Share scoring DCFC stations from showing up. You may find that there are suddenly a bunch more to choose from after removing the filter.
