Why doesn't the Mach-E have a tow hook?

Genuinely interested to know if anyone knows the real reason why the Mach-E does not have a screw in tow hook like in the fron bumper access point like most every other car out there?

My understanding is that in the European market the Mach-E does come with a tow hook, and that tow hook screws into the front bumper access point where you would expect.

So with that said, what rational reason could there be for excluding this in North American markets?? ?

I'm not here to whine or complain, but rather I'm generally interested to know what thought process would be behind this decision, particularly when we are talking about a part with negligible costs associated, and a universal access point in the front bumper which already exists in ALL models. So why not include the threaded portion in this access point which is already there, and the threaded tow hook to go with it for emergency situations?? ?

Does anyone know the reason for this?

There are front tow-points, underneath towards the front, per diagram in this thread:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ing-hooks-on-your-car.7230/page-3#post-203571

but no REAR tow points.... unless of course you have added a hitch receiver, in which case you could pull on the safety chain loops on the hitch.

As to why.... I dunno, but I'd say its a pretty big oversight that is going to make it pretty difficult for tow trucks to pull Mach-e out of snow drifts if they happen to slide off the road and bury the nose in the snow. I hate to think of the alignment/drivetrain damage if they chain up to a wheel or suspension and start yanking on it.

I couldn’t find the exact rule but from my understanding, EU requires that tow hook to be included with the vehicle. Kind of like how the EU Mach e has a tow rating but not in the US, it’s all about regulations.
it’s too bad the US doesn’t have the same rules, it’s very rare that new vehicles (even trucks) will come with tow hooks now. You’re stuck relying on control arms, frame holes, or if you’re lucky tie down loops.

Ford was going to include a tow hook, but they asked me and I said, "nah, I don't want one," so they left it off, saving $14.95 off the retail price. You're welcome.

kidding aside, flatbed tow is required - so what would you do with a tow hook? I don't know, that's why I am asking.

Cars getting stuck in mud or snow is pretty common near me. A tow strap and a good samaritan with a trailer hitch is usually all you need to get unstuck, but this gets a lot more difficult without a tow eye.

Use it to pull the car up onto the flat bed. It's so easy. Put the hook in, the guy attaches his cable, and he drags it right up there. Have done it quite as bit lately with one of my old German cars.

that tracks I guess. wouldn't you need one on each side though, or right in the middle, to pull it up straight?

They aren't pulling from the center of the vehicle when they use the underbody holes, so I would guess no. Though I am not a tow truck driver, nor do I play one on TV. ;)

My understanding is that the Mustang Mach E is not designed or rated to be towed in the US and, per the manual, towing the vehicle can cause damage. Also, my understanding is that the Mustang Mach E is not rated to tow in the US. Perhaps either European regulations are different, or there are differences in the European spec Mustang Mach Es?

Based on my extensive YouTube knowledge, if the wheels are free rolling it’ll come right up just by steering. If your dragging wheels it’ll want to pivot but you can do angled pulls on a flatbed to straighten it out when needed.

Your confusing two different things. Tow hooks(eyes) are for vehicle recovery not recreational towing.
The Mach e does have recovery points in the US they just aren’t as convenient as the mandatory tow hooks on the EU models.

No, it's really important for the winch cable to be wrapped around the thinnest control arm. Extra points if the cable saws away half of the warning sticker that says not to do that. I have removed several control with exactly those marks.
