I see exactly those same bars at a higher ambient temperature on cold mornings when I haven’t plugged in. It’s not a defect, just battery chemistry and Ford’s monitoring to prevent damage. ??
*it is defective programming though.

Ford is way too conservative in trying to “protect” the battery in the GT.

Even the regular ER Mach Es (identical battery) don’t pull nearly as much power in the cold.

We keep hoping a future update will change things.

They do go away after you drive for a while. Since 6.6.0 they seem to get stuck, but eventually they unstick and all go away.

That used to be what happened to my car. Since 6.6.0 they seem to stick around for a long time without moving. Then all of a sudden most of them disappear.
Your definition of cold and mine must be different. Live in the mountains of Colorado. Plug in car every day. From September to June I always have a gray bar. And it has been this way from day 1. Got the GT Oct 21

I started getting the bars more this winter than last winter. This winter they started at 40°. Today it was 17°, same number of bars.

An EV battery is happiest around 68-77 degrees. Not the outside temperature but the temp of the battery itself.

30 degrees outside might not seem that cold to you but for your battery that is really uncomfortable.
Someone should knit a sweater!

I always worry about doing a departure time and then not actually driving anywhere. Does that have any negative impact?
On the weekends, when I don't have a set driving schedule, I still set the car to pre-condition the battery 2x per day... but I turn off climate pre-conditioning. This is a great way to keep the battery warm but not waste energy warming the cabin.
