Woke up to a cracked windshield yesterday.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Windshield replacement 1680814931900

Can you believe they said they couldn’t repair it and I’d need a replacement.

Roughly 26 hours later I was back on the road with a new OEM laminated SoundScreen iRR coated wind screen with freshly calibrated sensors. Approximately $1,000 for the glass and $500 for the calibration.

GEICO doesn’t cover glass here, at least, in Maryland.

WHAT? That'd buff right out.
Sucks about your glass though.

Dang that's insane! Do you notice and improvement in wind noise? Another poster said the windshield seal was horrible when he had his taken off to be replaced and the new one made a noticeable difference.

Just local roads today. Mine was already quiet in my estimation though. Will be hard to improve.

Is that with taxes in? Thank you for the confirmation crack propagating from bottom corner drives side here. Quote was about the same. Guess that gets rid of half the glass recall that never got done. ;)

Md sales tax is 6% but was only on the glass...not sure if that was a mistake....includes a local recycling fee of $40....totaled out at $1503.

I did not have the recalls done...so both the windshield and panoramic roof still show on my VIN.

Went round about with ford about how to remove the windshield bit. Dealer said it was a Ford issue. Ford CS says it is a Dealer issue. Ultimately discussed with dealer body shop who does the recalls to learn that the panoramic requires removal of windshield so it doesn't matter practically for me since I still need to do the roof.... but disheartening to learn that there is not a straight forward established process to get a recall removed when the work it done for other reasons.

Ford CS was not helpful at first....tried to shame me for not having completed the recall already....despite the issues with supply chain and pandemic during my two years of ownership.

Thanks again but not for knowing your tax rate as we pay 2.5 times that here :( I have notified my dealer a number of times about the recalls but to be honest with all else going on neither of us have been real keen to start fixing what has been working on the car to date (has no leaks). Up here there are 2 recalls roof and windshield I am thinking one should be removed after it is replaced. Using the exchange rate and tax we are both in the same ball park.

It was a tiny dot stone chip 1.5 years old at the bottom drivers corner midway up the black bottom strip and was good. Crack started after an ice storm. The expansion of water (ice) is a force nothing can hold back. I would thinking the cost of the windshield is on us but to remove the one that was installed defectively and install a new one is less less labor and same extra materials as them trying to get the windshield out without breaking it. I assume they need to calibrate it during the recall work? ?‍♂ We will see how it goes with Ford.

I also just filed a Claim today through my GEICO insurance for a crack in my windshield about 2inches longer than a dollar bill. They told me $50 deductible if it needs to be replaced and calibrated and I live in Upper Marlboro,MD
