Worn out suspension.......

I'm at 85900 miles in my 21 Premium X AWD. Stock suspension from the start was a bit choppy feeling but I grew to get used to it. Recently had a 24 loaner for a day and the ride was very much better than mine. So, based on that and my mileage it's probably time to look at fixing my ride.

I have not done a search or dug through this particular section of the forum so I don't know what's out there.

I drive it like any other car and take many road trips with it. Don't need a sporty suspension, just something to smooth the old girl out a bit. Probably just shocks.

Suggestions please?

Many threads on this topic already. I believe the Koni shock seems to be one that people talk about quite a bit. I don't know the specifics, but I recall the name, because that is the same brand was recommended for our motorhome several years ago.

IME with other makes - and Ford trucks. Do not shop cost for shocks / struts. Get the best you can find to minimize other impacts and fear and tear. Someone here has upgraded shocks and struts and have brand model recommendations. And as always the GTPE / mag ride is awesome .

Not gonna do a full mag ride swap. I plan to sell this car in another 2yrs, so I don't want to make a big upgrade at this time. Just looking for a good ride to get through the next couple of years

Since there is currently no aftermarket support for the shocks, if you don’t go with modified Konis in the rear, all you have regarding dampers is the stock stuff. There are reports that the 2023 Job2 cars ride better than the older cars, so speculation is that the shock valving was changed. Perhaps ordering shocks for a 2024 will get you a better ride, but at dealer prices, it’s gonna be expensive. ??

I believe they changed the suspension or at least re-tuned it for the 2024 model year. Maybe this this what you noticed?

There are reports that the 2023 Job2 cars ride better than the older cars, so speculation is that the shock valving was changed.

This was my experience. I had a 2023 as a loaner while my '21 was in for some quick service, and the very first thing I noticed about driving the '23 was that it was considerably smoother than my '21 over the same roads I drive every day.

I don't know enough about the '23s to know why. But I noticed it right away.

What trim level was the loaner and how many miles are on the current tires? Both of those would be helpful in comparing ride quality.

Loaner was standard range premium with 900 miles. Mine is extended range premium with 85900 miles, tires have 30k on them

There was, except I think it was 2023 models, and the conclusion was - inconclusive. At least so far it is not clear that there is any difference.

There was also a thread commenting that the '24 Rally edition has the smoothest ride of all Mach-E Mustangs to date. But not clear yet how much better it may be, on the road and off.
