Congratulations Ford on finally completing a powertrain module OTA update, 13 months after deliveries started and 21 months after OTA was first announced. The 2.4.2 update is the first to make a meaningful change to the way the vehicle operates (brake feel) rather than basic infotainment changes. Itā€™s been a long wait since these were initially promised for release last summer (ā€˜21) and delayed many times.

@JamieGeek is the lucky first recipient of a verified powertrain module OTA.

Hopefully more to come including BlueCruise in the coming weeks.

This is great news and demonstrates once and for all that Ford can do FOTA (Firmware Over The Air).

I know I was one who was sometimes skeptical, glad to be proven wrong and convincingly.

It's rare air to be able to do this in the Automotive industry. Plenty of others still trying.

What did it do?
Ford Mustang Mach-E First Successful Powertrain Module OTA Update Achieved 2022-02-26 07.45.41

I can concur: smoother braking for both 1-P on and 1-P off--at least for my "seat of the pants" feeling.

Thanks. It'll be interesting to see what a difference it makes. I hardly use the brake and always driving with one pedal.

Interesting, since I recall Consumer Reports was a bit critical of the brake pedal feel.

The brake is definitely a little ā€œchunkyā€ when having to use during 1 pedal driving. Look forward to this update & future Blue Cruise ( hope I donā€™t have to play ā€patty cakeā€ while using it though. ?)

So was Kyle on Insideevs/out of spec motoring. When I test drove one I experienced the same thing, rough blending between regen and friction. Not a deal breaker, something I expected to just get used to, but an annoyance for sure. Great to see this being addressed in an OTA before mine even arrives.

Is this only for job 1 cars?

I donā€™t hate my brake feel but it could definitely be better to my liking. But I donā€™t have a job 1 car. Iā€™m wondering if I already have what these cars are being updated too. Someone in that original thread talked about wondering if this will fix why some reviewers said the GT had more mature brake feel. Which makes me think my job 2 premium might already have this.

I swear my 1PD brake feel changed during 1.7.1 on my Job 1.5 car and also noticed other people saying it did as well.

IMO this is placebo... 1.7.1 only updated one module: the APIM (sync system)
