CHICHESTER, United Kingdom, July 14, 2023 – For the first time in its nearly six-decade history, Ford is taking Mustang where it never has gone before – where the tarmac ends and the dirt road begins – with the rally-inspired electric Ford Mustang Mach-E® Rally.

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, enthusiasts and onlookers will get a look at the first rally-inspired electric SUV from Ford– available to order in the U.S. this fall – as it charges up the hill driven by Ott Tänak, current driver of the M-Sport Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 entry and former World Rally champion.

“Mustang Mach-E took the freedom and fun of Mustang and made it free from emissions. Now with Mustang Mach-E Rally, we’re providing our customers the freedom to venture off the asphalt and beyond the beaten path,” said Darren Palmer, Vice President, Electric Vehicle Programs, Ford Model e.

I’m curious about the technical specs on the Rally but otherwise completely uninterested.

I'm thinking they started with a GT-PE. The interior at least looks like a GT-PE that's got a different headrest support frame, but not much else is different. I do like the driving lights and towhook. And the wheels look to be a JDM style straight out of the 80's.

What are the technical specs?

From the version of this variant I saw back in February, I can now tell you that it looks pretty sweet in Cyber Orange.

I’d love if they made the grill with integrated driving lights available as an accessory on other models. Those of us in the fog and snow belt would love some extra lighting.

SVO called, they want their wheels back.

Ok…… a rally inspired car for the US where rally isn’t popular at all.

This thing had damn well better be able to make laps on a rally track!!

If they fix the 5 second limit issue on this car, but it’s the only one, I probably won’t be the only person a bit annoyed. The one competitive advantage that the Mach E has is it looks great. This package? Not my cup of tea.

Looks pretty cool. Does that tow hook go through the little door we use to pop the hood if the battery dies?

Not gonna lie I'm jealous of the existence of a tow hook at all based on some of the towing horror stories.

Looks like it has the older Sync interface. I'm sure the production version won't, but it's interesting that this isn't running on the latest software....possibly indicative that there's changes they have to incorporate into the latest UI.

Why

I don’t get it? They are dropping prices, still sitting on lots, so let’s come out with a new version that no one asked for? Does anyone really want this? My local small dealer has 11 brand new Mach Es on their lot for a while now and it’s a really small dealer.
