I know, I know, not many here seem to like Motor Trend (not saying I do) but I like to see speed test comparisons just as much as anyone else. This might be interesting to some to see where the Mach-E fits in. Not like it's any surprise that it was one of the fastest but I have to say, this is only to 1/4 mile. I can tell you after that there is no comparison at all. If they were to test the Mach-E beyond a 1/4 mile, it would basically fall flat on it's face compared to anything else and I guess that is because of battery, motor or gearing limitations? I don't know. What I do know is at high speeds (over 80 mph) you stab the go pedal on the Mach-E and it does nothing compared to say the GT500 which easily pins you back in the seat until about 155 mph then it just keeps going right up to it's speed limited 180 mph. The fastest has been documented at 204 mph after removing the speed limiter. Probably 99% of us (including me) could care less how fast the Mach-E gets to the 1/4 mile. I really only care about 0-60 and 55-80 and for that, the Mach-E is a very fun SUV.

Notably, the Rally beats the winner to 60, 3.3 vs 3.6!

Yes it does. I’m sure you know why. AWD! The GT500 can’t release full power until 3rd gear (or 2nd at higher speeds). Would just smoke the tires in 1st and 2nd. In fact I can easily spin the tires in second gear doing 70 (some have done 80) and thats with 345’s on the rear (Michelin Pilot Sport 4S). Interesting though that Ford’s 0-60 times for both the GT500 and Mach-E GTP is 3.3 seconds. Don’t remember if MT was using Launch Control or not but there are documented 3.3 times for the 500. It’s just that the Mach-E is more consistent. 😊

My main concern about acceleration is for the 1/10 to 1/4 mile freeway on-ramp. That’s about 25-75 mph.

And there is certainly no problem with the Mach-E in that range. 😊

Software nitpicks aside, this has hands down been my favorite car I've ever owned and it is mainly due to it's quick, smooth acceleration. I'm on my second and looking forward to what Ford has planned for this car in the future.

Didn't they get a little more out of the Rally than Ford claims? I thought the GT with the PU got 3.3 to 60 and the rally (being traction limited due to smaller tires) was about a tenth behind according to Ford's claims in 2024. 🤷‍♂️🐩

I've always found manufacturer times a few tenths slower than what the magazines get out of the cars. Funny, I recall as a car obsessed teen that Car and Driver always got the best 0-60 times out of cars, MT was in the middle, and R&T was the slowest.

You would think if MT got 3.3 out of the Rally it could get a bit better from the GTP. 😳

Now that you mention it, I do remember this being the case when I was a "car obsessed teen". 😊

I think they just copied 24 GT PU performance numbers and slapped a Rally pic bc Rally comes with 700lb-ft std. There’s no way the CC2s would come even close to P0s in performance. We know the GT PU is faster, but not enough to beat the GT500 anyway. So we’ll still be in second place. I’m petty, but spent $$$ to get the fastest Mach-E out there to satisfy my ongoing midlife crisis. Btw, do you overcome it when you turn 50? Asking for a friend.

Warner Bros fired all of Motor Trends talent and then signed Kye Kelly to a new contract. I lost all respect for that crowd. I wouldn't give them the time of day. They are all dead to me.

Not being a fan of getting arrested going 20 over the limit (it happens a lot here), the Mach-E is more than quick enough for my needs. The car seems to hit 90 during a passing burst plenty fast. It's off the line quickness is far more useful than its upper end speed. YMMV of course.
