So I temporarily bricked my car but got out of it lol tried one last time to update it, didn’t work like the other times so I did the same cancel procedure. But for some reason this time my vehicle wouldn’t turn on, only aux power. I then just ran the same update and it finally took and updated? Anyway I got it. Hopefully now that I’ve updated all of them, I’ll finally receive OTA updates. I’m still on like 3.5.3?
What Sync version is your car on in the about sync page? 3.5.2 was the APIM update that gave you sync 22293 for full screen phone projection. You should be higher than that now unless your car is one of the ones Ford isn't releasing Sync updates for.

It says sync 4. And I talked to ford and they were useless when I asked if there was something wrong with my car, since I’ve NEVER received an OTA update. I’ve had it for over a year. But they just kept saying yeah you’re updated to sync 4..cool, not what I’m asking. Anyway, yes it should be a lot higher. It’s a 2022 GTPE

There will be a 5 digit number there that starts with a 2. Settings > general > about sync.

It says : 22228_product
Revision 539
Sxm id : r4z38ecr
Ah that sucks. Then you're most likely affected by the hold. That's still software from 2022. Crazy how many vehicles sitting on old stuff can't get updated.

Why is there a hold? Why can’t it update?

There's an SSM Ford released to dealers months ago that says vehicles on Sync 23187 or lower may not show more updates for Sync, but they don't say why or when it will be resolved.

So in his case, he'd likely first be looking for a new gateway update that would precede the APIM update, and that would be followed by a TCU update,.....of course there could be multiple gateway updates (like back-to-back) and then followed by an APIM,...that happened as well....2022 is so far back now it's hard to remember what the sequence was. What a PITA though. I wonder if he's eligible for the 25S49 FSA? That one seemed to result in everything getting updated....

Thanks for the response. How would one go about getting that “25S49 FSA”? Like what happened to my vehicle? Is there a case where if they fall behind in updates that it gets to a point of no return?

Hey what’s your take on the SOBDM not being able to update via FDRS? I’m currently downloading a shit ton and can’t seem to get that one to go.
Car is unplugged right? Can’t update the SOBDM while it’s being used for charging.

Most likely, nothing happened to your vehicle. The bulletin sent to dealers is attached. If you want, message me the VIN. I can look through warranty history to see if at any point, any of the Sync modules were replaced and possibly not programmed correctly that could be casuing an issue.

However, if you car has everything as it came from Ford, and FDRS was not showing any updates for the APIM, GWM, TCU or IPC, then the issue is on Ford's side and there is nothing you can do but wait for them to get their shit together and release the Sync updates to everyone affected.

@Machdiggler Got your message, but posting here in case anyone else can provide insight.

According to warranty history, there is no indication any of the Sync modules have been replaced in your car. It does says a dealer supposedly updated the GWM in August of 2024.

The only thing I see out of whack are these two codes that your car WAS reporting, but are now gone after you did the updates:

Ford Mustang Mach-E The Complete DIY Guide to Updating Your Mach-E with FDRS 1766779873545-56

Ford Mustang Mach-E The Complete DIY Guide to Updating Your Mach-E with FDRS 1766779888442-1d

The APIM code cited a internal failure and the TCU code cited a component failure, but again, both codes are now gone and vehicle connectivity seems to be working fine.

If I had to guess, there is nothing wrong with your car and you are just not showing any updates for the Sync modules due to the hold Ford has on them for whatever reason.

Thanks for looking at all that! What are the chances after I updated all of those things that maybe in the next month or two I start seeing OTA?

First of all, Ford would have to start sending out OTAs....

None of us seem to be in any danger of seeing any of those show up anytime soon.

IMO: The chances are good, but until Ford releases the updates, you won't see anything. That SSM has been out for a while so hopefully Ford is close to fixing whatever issue is causing them to hold updates for the affected vehicles. There are A LOT of vehicles in your position. You are not alone.
