Any? I have smoke/fire, CO2 alarms in my house because...the fear of dying, I'm sure they are not crappy. :sunglasses:
I carry full coverage on both my EVs, why, because a fender bender will likely total them. I have no requirement to carry full coverage, and between my wife and I we have had 1 claim in 25 years.

I don't think anyone doesn't know that the odds favor not having to use your extended warranty and therefore you spent money you didn't need to. But what if YOU end up being one of the people who could have benefited greatly from having one? Some people feel that paying for the warranty and not having to worry about paying for potentially expensive repairs down the road gives them peace of mind, even if they don't get anything more from buying the warranty. To each his own. But if you want to buy a warranty, just make sure it's the actual Ford plan and not some 3rd party insurance company. And shop around for the best price.

How much data the warranty industry have on EVs and failure points over time?

None.
Ford has years of repair info on hybrids, PHEVs, and EVs, and now 4.5 years on the Mach-E. They know exactly what failed, and in fact they know what might be failing before it fails based on the data they have from our vehicles 24/7. They have actuaries that project this, which goes into the pricing of the warranties.

Yup.

So your chances of breaking even are 1 in 8.

The person above who claimed to be ahead 7 cars in a row, statistically that’s a a chance of 1 in 2,097,152.

And that’s only if you keep the car for the length of the warranty. Yeah, I don’t like those odds. 😂

On a related note- never go to the dealership for repair work outside of warranty.

Part of the reason people may think they’re “way ahead” on warranty repairs are the inflated quotes they get from a dealer.

Find a good local mechanic and fix things for half the price (with the same OEM parts too). There’s a reason we call the dealer service centers the “stealership.” 😜
Finding a good local mechanic to work on our Electric car is impossible where I live.
Sure, they can do normal ICE repairs, but, even the Mechanics at Ford Dealers have trouble with EV repairs because technology so new.

I happen to be a fan of what I call, “fixed cost of ownership.” Aside from a small deductible, I know what my cars and trucks will cost me for as much as 13 years.

This 60 year old man says, “so far so good!”

And they raised the price from $1600 to $2400 in a few short years of data compilation. Lets see when that number stops climbing.

I buy my genuine Ford Premium-care warranties from Emma at Lombard Ford (online). Their prices always crush the local dealers. Call her at (866) 379-7095 and say Matt Niessen sent you.

If you say so. I didn't track the prices at any source. I don't buy them. I got one free for my Lightning though.

Recently, my F350’s extended Premium Care package paid for itself when the 4WD hubs and front calipers had to be replaced. I’m a warranty believer, especially for the unknown unknowns of vehicle ownership; and add to that the mysteries of what the salt and road brine will do to our machines in the northern states!

Given ford annual adjust all their warranties up annually and inflation exists….it will never stop growing.

Pretty much everything has been going up 5-10% per year recently, not like that’s really an indicator of Mach E warranty issues.

CO2 alarms..... 😂
Why do you think that's funny? It's a crime when you have an uncarbonated or overcarbonated beverage!

I applaud those that put in CO2 detectors!

Jeesh, some people!

I have a theory that I use if we're going to keep the car past the B2B warranty. Lets say I spend $2500 on a 10 year Ford warranty. Now if I go the full 10 years and never use it, that's OK. I figure if I don't buy the warranty something will fail that costs more than $2500 to repair. It's like I'm giving my money to the warranty gods so I won't have anything go wrong with the car! 🤪
My mother used to buy life insurance from a machine at the airport every time that she flew. She insisted that her plane would crash if she didn't do this. Mom was right ... the planes that she took never crashed!

There's a big difference between a $50 piece of equipment that is easily replaced and has been proven to save lives/property and that of a $2000 "peace of mind" extended warranty. This is what we call a false equivalency.

I was thinking of buying an extended warranty. I do a little over 18,000 miles a year and I just hit 36,000 miles on my 2023 Mustang Mach e GT.

On Ford’s website it’s around $2500 for 3 years or 75,000 miles. Funny the dealership wants $5500 for the same thing. No issues with my car so far but I’m always worried cause it’s an EV. Any suggestions or thoughts are welcome thanks for the help.
If you're a member of a credit union and they have auto services, I'd get a bid from them as I used to work at one and we were always cheaper than dealers.
