The senior manager, Clark, is the one who sat me down and reprimanded me for presenting the x-plan. His position is that I went against an “agreement” with the dealership. This issue is coming from the top.
When they get call from Ford their senior management will have to duck

You have waited patiently for more of a year. They can’t ruin this. Placing another order at different dealership will add another 6 months or more. Remember they are making only at certain numbers per week and that is to be shipped all over thr world. Also you risk losing 7500 tax rebate. It may become a mute point if the dealer sells off the car to somebody else. Tough situation.

Sorry to learn of your situation, but unfortunately it's not uncommon. I asked four dealers in Orange Co, CA if they would accept X-Plan pricing on the Mach-E. Three said no, and after having to explain it to their "Internet Sales specialist" got a commitment via text message from Theodore Robbins Ford in Costa Mesa that they would accept X-Plan pricing. Fortunately, they're the closest to my home and I had a good experience buying my Focus Electric from them.

If you paid your deposit with a credit card, dispute the charge and you'll probably get it back. I placed mine on American Express for precisely this reason, and knew that if the dealer weaseled on his commitment to me, AMEX would immediately credit my account and take it up with the dealer.

The Mach-E is a great vehicle, but I wish Ford's purchase process was similar to Tesla's, with little need for ill-informed, greedy dealers who add little, if any, value to the buying experience.

Ouch- have you tried the Mach e helpline- sounds like at this point it’s just a matter of getting your deposit back and going somewhere else.
i got bad vibes from the first dealer I went to which was close to my home. They were asking for a larger deposit than expected and were wishy/washy on ADM and Xplan. I went somewhere else. So far so good but we’ll ultimately find out next month when I take delivery.

Well said. I totally agree. They know they can turn around and sell this someone else for a lot more. I’m thinking about abandoning this whole plan and going to Tesla.

I don’t think they can sell until I finally give in. This experience is leaving a really bitter taste. We only bought Ford and have been loyal to the brand.

Your best bet is to go to social media and try to raise a stink; hopefully they don't want the bad publicity. Unfortunately I doubt there is much Ford can do for you. The dealership contracts allow dealers to mark up if the market will bear it, and in this case that is what they are doing. I understand it is frustrating and repugnant, but you should be prepared for the fact that you are going to be left with 4 choices - all of which have their downsides if you want a Mach-E. Ultimately you'll have to choose which option you can live with:
  1. Order/buy another MME from another dealer that accepts X-plan with no markup
  2. Buy a different car from someone else
  3. Buy nothing now
  4. Buy the car you ordered and pay the markup
Option 4 actually costs you the most because the markup is more than the deposit you would lose in option 1.

All of those choices suck, but sometimes life sucks.

So, you’re working with Jorge. He told me that you had seen it. He’s nice, but he’s a salesperson .....
Yeah he we literally only spoke twice since I placed an order. I literally come here for all the information.

It’s the only way I find information too. A nice guy, but he was clueless about anything to do with the car. He was also a little dishonest in stalling me on the buy while things went down with management. I would feel better about the fee if they were any help, but they were not. Why pay someone when they don’t do their job? That wouldn’t work in my line of business.

I don’t think Ford can help. Pricing (and X-plan acceptance) is negotiated solely between the customer and the dealer. The dealer asked for $2k mark up at the time of order and that price was agreed to by the customer when the order was placed.

From the dealer perspective they’re only asking the customer to honor the negotiated and agreed to price.

This dealer does not accept xplan. As stated earlier dealers are not required to accept xplan.

The adm was known to you when you actually placed the order. Before hitting the order button you had an opportunity to transfer your reservation to a non adm dealer and perhaps one that accepts xplan. That would’ve taken about 5 days. What you’re trying to do now is change the terms of the agreement you made with the dealer. Unfortunately, they’re not obligated to agree to change the terms.

So your choices are to pay the contracted for price and go home with the car you ordered and never do business with that dealer or anyone like them again. Or you can walk away if they don’t agree to sell at MSRP. If you choose the latter, you can reorder another Mach-e at a dealer that sells the car at MSRP or accepts XPlan. Or you can buy something else.

The only argument you might have versus this dealer is if, and only if, they actually accept xplan on other cars but not the Mach-e. That seems unlikely though.
If a dealer accepts X-Plan pricing for some vehicles, do they have to accept it for all?

Everyone’s advice on here has helped me take the emotion out of the decision. I don’t think I have to take the purchase just because i want it. It’s not a bad deal, I just didn’t realize all of the markups and fees until I visited this site. And, why pay more if I don’t have to.

We will be keeping my fusion hybrid to give to my daughter. I definitely can wait until I unleash her on the road with her own car. In fact, I think the community would appreciate that too.

Ford presented this process as competitive to Tesla. So, maybe that’s where I’ll head and not have to deal with a car dealership at all.

I think that’s a good question. Certain vehicles are excluded and they are listed in the x-plan agreement. I called Ford, but they are not open today.

Except in the explanation of the code, it is stated the price does not include rebates, discounts, etc. if they had to stick to that price, they couldn’t offer incentives or rebates, etc.
