I've done the comparison with EA as well. It is fine for my needs as well. Turning on the other networks provide a lot more options where Tesla has none. The Supercharger network sells Teslas but that didn't mean that there aren't other solutions that meet people's needs. I do think it is over hyped. And the situation is quickly changing in favor of a standardized network vs a proprietary one. EA alone is bringing online about 300 more locations this year.
Oh, I completely agree there's no reason Tesla should have built the Supercharger network and their vehicles with a proprietary plug.

But I 100% disagree with the idea that Superchargers are anything but a MASSIVE advantage that Tesla has over any other EV.

We need to go into this eyes wide open and recognize that the Mach-E is a gorgeous car, has great range, great tech, etc. - but has a dramatically inferior user experience and restricted usability because of the CCS infrastructure... for now, as you say. EA's not done. But they're far behind Tesla. That can not be argued seriously, I feel.

Let's take a 300 mile Mach-E and a clapped out 210 mile 2013MY Model S 60 with an aged and throttled Supercharging curve, and race em from Minneapolis to Seattle. Then we'll see if Superchargers are a Tesla selling point or not.

I'm starting my own testing of the CCS network starting this weekend. We'll see how it goes.

If it's from Minneapolis to Seattle it'll be a long trip as CCS vehicles would have to go through Denver to get there... and Teslas can blast straight down 94.

That's all I'm saying.

Not "GO TESLA" or whatever... I bought the Ford. I support CCS.

I just don't think anyone objective can say that Supercharging is not what sells Teslas.

Obviously all of us here didn't care, but that's the definition of selection bias - if we needed Superchargers, we wouldn't be here, we'd have just bought a Tesla and could not have bought a Mach-E. That's all I'm saying.

Good thing since I live in Denver. ?
I know there are huge gaps with CCS. But for me, there isn't a problem. That's why I posted the maps I did. I've checked the areas that are of interest to me and it is more than adequate. The Supercharger network wouldn't benefit me any more than the CCS network.

Same for me. I'm well served with CCS.

But that does not mean that Supercharging isn't why Teslas sell.

That was partly my point. For many people, the CCS network is fine (and they will mostly charge at home anyway). But people are led to believe that they can't survive using the CCS network.

Oh yeah it's nowhere near as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. CCS is getting good, and getting good fast. In a few years, Tesla's network will be the disadvantage if they don't really speed up.
