My FordPass has been unreliable at best.
I bought/programmed another FOB, and decided I didn’t need PAAK or FordPass. I was going to delete the app, but I’m glad I didn’t.

FordPass does 2 things reliably for me:
1. It allows me to start the car from a distance, and this is useful at work before I depart. It will do this consistently, even though other functions often fail.

2. It allows me to make use of my free Ford charging hours. I had previously tried Electrify America multiple times and could not get the plug/charge to work. Ever. I tried every trick from this forum, including various combinations of doors closed, doors locked/unlocked, double/triple insertions, etc. I tried every one of the 6 EA charging stations near my house, multiple times, without a single success. Definitely looked like a goof backing in/out trying each station at a 6-station EA spot.
Miraculously, if pull up and initiate the charge from Fordpass, while sitting in the glorious comfort of my MMe, then get out and plug in, it works, every time (including at the many stations that had always failed before). For this reason alone I’ll keep FordPass on the phone.

Curious - what value do you get starting the car in advance?

This is a great tip. Do you have P&C enabled or disabled? Could be a great solution for my road trip in April to get the free kWh while also not having to deal with P&C issues that would suck up valuable time.

When it’s 5 degrees f outside, starting it 15 minutes before I get to the car ensures the cabin is nice and warm.

PC is always enabled, but cannot get it to work UNLESS I initiate the session from FordPass

I am definitely happy that it has the remote start buttons right on the front page, but I wish it didn't require such a long press. Just a tap should be enough.

I wouldn't want that to be potentially "butt dialed" though. I'm guessing they demand a long press to ensure it's intentional. Maybe a double tap would be quicker but less likely to happen in a pocket unintentionally.

I get that on an ICE, but on a BEV what's the real risk? Maybe a mile or two of range, idk. But yeah, that's probably why they do it, it's just like the "Are you sure you want to do the thing that you just clicked on?" pop-ups.

There have been quite a few times I've accidentally tapped one of the buttons on the front page and was actually glad I had to hold it down to activate. Now, there is a difference between a simple tap vs 2-3 seconds of hold. IF there was something ~1 sec, I think that'd be ideal.

It'd be great if they implemented the "long-press haptic" mechanism for iOS.

Ford Pass has other features, like alerts if alarm is triggered, tire pressure warning, scheduling charging, scheduling starts, one touch roadside assistance, OTA notifications, vehicle locator, locating charging locations, and many more. And it’s free, for life, unlike other manufacturers.

I almost always just tell my Google Home speaker to start the car now, which is linked to FordPass. Nice and warm when I get in, without having to go to the garage first and open the door. ♨

JSW, I would like to try activating a charging session from the FP app as I have had EA charging problems also. I looked in the FP app for steps to begin as session before plugging in but came up empty.
Could walk me through the scenes and steps you used that were successful? Thanks much.

Any instructions on how to do this?

Step 1 — find a charging station: You can do this in FordPass in 2 ways: (1) select “View nearby chargers” in the horizontal box in the middle of the the first page of FordPass; or (2) select the “map” function on the bottom of the first page and then select the “charging” option in the drop down of the map. See, pics 1 and 2, respectively.

Then click on a specific charging station (from the list if you use option one, or on on the map if you use option 2). See pic 3

Step 2 - After you select a particular charging station,, select a specific charger if there are multiple charging stations in one location. See pic 4. After you tap on an individual station there will be a page describing the cost, etc., and an option to “activate” the station. See pic 5

Step 3- activate the station and then plug it into the MMe.
