If you guys leave the car on and walk away, is it honking twice at you?

Sometimes I just need to step out of the car to grab something really quick, anytime I leave the car on to do this, it honks twice super loud. Regardless if I leave the keys in or take it with me.

I was actually hoping to be able to keep the car on and locked while walking away so I wouldn't have to turn it on when I get back and wait for the screen to run and stuff.

Can anyone try this out and let me know if they too see the same behavior?

There is a setting you can turn that off. It is part of "walk away lock".

If you leave the car on and walk away it will always beep twice to let you know you left it on, and there is no setting to turn it off. My 2015 mustang coupe did the same thing.

That stinks that you can't turn it off. It's selectable in many vehicles.

Looks like we got conflicting answers here

I think the conflict is because people are talking about different things. The 'walk away lock' feature definitely has a selectable honk option. What you originally asked about is not that. You are talking about a 'no fob detected' reminder.

Some think you are talking about the walk-away lock, Page 78

More likely, this is the Mislock Page 71

OP is talking about warning for forgetting to turn off the vehicle and/or forgetting to take the key. It's neither "walk away lock" nor "mislock".

It's to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning (which doesn't really apply here) and car theft (a lot of car theft happens because key is in there, or car wasn't turned off). I think all modern cars do this.

I don't think this can be turned off.

It is somewhat unfortunate that Sync in Mach E takes some time to boot up and show Android Auto or CarPlay or Navigation. So I see OP's pain. For me, it's not that slow so I'm fine with turning off the car. I guess OP has to choose between tolerating the honks or turning off the car.

Yeah, it’s a shame cause I’m coming from a Tesla where I would just have to walk out and it’ll turn itself off and it’s fine.

I just figured the car didn't want to running all alone when I forgot to turn him off. He is so quiet.

I thought the Tesla would drive to the store and pick up a quart of milk for you.

If you exit the vehicle with your fob and close either one of the front doors while the car is running then it will honk at you as a reminder that you forgot to turn it off.

If you leave the fob in the car then it should not honk. Your car might honk because it is sensing the phone has left the vehicle (if you are using PaaK).

I leave my car running all the time. I don't mind the honk. If someone attempts to get behind the wheel and drive it away it won't shift out of Park. If I am really worried about it then I can force lock the car several different ways and the car will remain running.

I leave the car running when I am not going far and want the A/C to keep the cabin cool.

If you don't want to hear the honk.....then you have to shut off the car, exit and lock and then remote start with your app. I don't think the car honks in that scenario but I am not positive.....you might need to test it for yourself.
