Hi, Guys
Has anyone taken receipt of their MME yet ?
I tracked my car across the Atlantic. It landed in Antwerp on 18th April.

Right next to where the ship docked, another RORO ship set sail 24 or so hours later- destination - Southampton.

It landed in Southampton on 20th and I contacted the dealer.

As of 29th April, I still have no information about the whereabouts of the car.

you would think a £58k car would be tracked through every bit of tarmac but it appears no one has a clue where it is - even on Vista

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

Anthony

I am sure we would've heard about it by now if anyone in UK had received their car. If nothing else Ford would've announced it with great fanfare so the answer to your first question is NO.
As far as I am aware ALL UK cars are still in Antwerp and unless plans have changed the will go from there to Vlissingen (Flushing) to be shipped to Dagenham and onward moved to dealers from there. The only way we will know when they have moved is via vista. My latest said compound in ANT CUST. What I am expecting the next few to be is
Compound out ANTCUST
Compound in VHC/FLUSHING/VLI or something similar
The most important one I want to see is Compound in DAG. I'll know then that it is homeward bound

How do you know it’s at ‘Compound In’, in Antwerp ?

I off hired an ONTO car hire at the end of its contract yesterday so stuffed for a car.

I thought 9 days would be ample time to receive the car - it was for two previous Mustangs I tracked over the ocean.

Hey @Mjsd (and everyone else)

You guys know I've been in from the very beginning having placed my pre-order way back in December 2019, and I've managed to stay loyal and true to the cause the whole time.

I'm new to Ford. I've consistently bought and owned Japanese cars (Mazdas & Toyotas) for the last 30 years, it took a lot to steal me away from that reliability and service I'd come to know and love (not to mention the great dealership relationship). What finally caused me to defect was Toyota's absolute refusal to produce a full EV (yes I know that stance has changed this week - but that's a separate point for another day)

I was swayed by the prospect of the first shiny new EV from Ford that ticked all my boxes, and as a result I invested huge amounts of time and resources into this vehicle. I became a Mach-E evangelist for anybody who needed help or advice, and in some respects it's been the one thing to keep me going throughout this whole COVID crap-fest over the last year.

Not once have I wobbled or threatened to walk away - even in the darkest days of order conversion delays, production delays, shipping delays, & even changes to the Government EV grants .... that is until now.

While out for a walk today sitting on a quiet bench in the countryside I had the opportunity to sit and reflect on the events of the last 17 months, and for the first time I had doubts about if this was actually the right car for me. I've never considered spending soo much money on a car before, hell this car is costing nearly as much as I payed for my first mortgage! (and that was only 20 yrs ago!)... and what am I getting for it? Well I'm being treated like dirt and kept in the dark! Ford UK's utter contempt for customers is frankly astonishing.

This evening seeing more posts about delivery estimates slipping even further, more Technical Service Bulletins coming to light, and absolutely no reassurances from Ford, I like many of you, find myself teetering on the brink of saying "f£%k it" and asking for a deposit refund.

I've committed so much (personalised Mach-E plates bought, terminated the lease on my existing car - and handed it back as I should have already got my MME) and yet the thought of not going ahead does not bother me one bit. That speaks volumes to me.

Sorry for the long post - so may of us have written similar outpourings of dissatisfaction and considered throwing in the towel - didn't envisage it would be my turn tonight!

This Donkey is feeling exceptionally Wonky in regards to the Mach-E right now. Anyone wanna buy an unused licence plate off me? ? (MY21 MME) - DM me for details
Couldn't have put it any better myself. Apart from this not being my first Ford (me, my wife, my mum, both daughters, my dad and my business) have been loyal to Ford for over 40 years which is one reason why I am still in. However like you, recent events have got me re-evaluating too. I know one thing for sure, if I stick to with it the MME will be my LAST Ford.

Vista. The last status date change that my dealer sent me was 21 April with a location of ANT CUST.

I asked our dealer to check Vista yesterday. He said nothing was showing - concerning.
All I know for absolute certainty was my car (via the vin tracking) was on the Grande Halifax that landed in Antwerp on 18/04.

The ship docked next to the Grand Halifax departed 24 hours after heading for Southampton. It seemed logical it was rolled off one and onto the other.
These ports don’t have infinite space to stock cars entering daily from all four corners of the world. They need them moving.
As they say, time is money and it’s millions in Fords case to have them just sat at a port.

Your car will be in Antwerp for 5 to 10 weeks for checks and any work needed.

As @Iwantonenow has just said ALL cars are in Antwerp to be fixed (I'm fed up with this bull? lame excuse of QC checks) because they left the factory with so many problems. If they can ship 953 cars to Norway then there should be no reason why ours can't be sent. It is well documented what my feelings are on that topic.

Cheers.

I’ll have to on-hire another bloody car then. I can’t live in hope.

I totally get it and I haven't been waiting as long. I ordered Sept last year and must have picked up a cancellation as I have one of the earliest VINs on here and a production date in November. My delivery ETA is now early June and seems to slip week by week.

For me no other electric car has inspired my whole family as much as the Mach E. If I even mention cancelling the whole family looks upset. With that said if there was viable alternative that could guarantee delivery before summer I would probably jump right now. A viable alternative means different things to different people. For me I'm rather particular.....they'd need to add 100 miles range to an eTron and reduce the price of the sportsback by 20k as well as guaranteeing spring delivery to come anywhere near close ;).

I'm not willing to jump ship just because a car brand treats me like I don't matter. If I did that then there wouldn't be a car I would own. How depressing is that!!

I like your comments on the Toyota. We would have considered them 2nd though, after Mazda, but neither had a full EV that would be ready when we wanted it and at the right spec. I really like the MX-30 as a second car though once our Renault Zoe lease is up.....

Well. There’s a huge pile of hard feelings we all share.

Feelings are real and I fully respect that but we are also in danger off focusing each other’s feelings without the perspective of the whole journey.

We are close to the end of this. Many if not most have and end of May date. The process for ALL NEW EV’s is a 12 month plus journey sometimes 18 or more.

All I am saying is step back and look at the whole picture.

The MME is a great car with excellent reviews. Even Sandy Munro likes it. Many of us have a £3k government grant guaranteed.

The EV6 and Ionic 5 look great but most realistic deliveries will be 2022 and the prices look high to me.

What we might do is send a joint letter. If we could get 50 signatures this might have an impact. I think Ford can compensate us and NOT with obsolete headphones.

In my experience poor decisions are made with emotions and I feel them too. Intense frustration and I’m fed up with my treatment. But really we might be 6 weeks away in a 70 week process.

The cars are being held at Antwerp where the team of experts are. I assume software engineers or at least well trained on mass updating software onto the cars.
As Grahame has spotted there was a notification on 21st re a fault in charging requiring an update to each car.
They will have found that fault before the 21st. And perhaps others.
This is very likely to explain the ETAs going back for people by a week or 2.
I can only speculate but the cost of doing this couple be double or 10 times once those cars are at dealerships and be much harder to manage.
This would then suggest they either can't get the OTA system to function or dont see it as reliable enough.
I know how this works in the software industry - at least for me - if you are planning an upgrade for your customers you can find yourself pushing deadlines back again and again when you find last minute bugs. Otherwise the effort to fix issues when it is out of the door is just fire fighting and occasionally catastrophic to your reputation.
If i'm right about all this then Ford are mismanaging all this as you always keep the customers in the loop if there is a problem and give regular updates and timescales.
And also a car business can not completely act like a software company as there are other factors such as people need the physical product and rely on it to get from A to B and need to plan insurance and finance.

Wow - You certainly tell it like it is! Don't leave us Wonkey. We all need your knowledge and skills in navigating the Ford Fiasco more than ever now.

Like you, I ordered my First Edition back in December 2019 - pre Covid and it seems that's been with us since God was a boy. My wife recently decided she would "go electric" too. Last Saturday we went to 3 dealers to test drive a Renault Zoe, a Fiat 500 cabriolet and a Peugeot 208E. After a day's considering the pros and cons of each she settled for the Peugeot and placed an order last Monday. She collects it tomorrow! What a difference.

As a matter of interest to anyone trading in their existing car I took my much loved 2 year old Mazda CX5 AWD back to Hendy Mazda where I bought it. The car is immaculate and has 16,500 miles on the clock. It cost £39K new in January 2019. They offered me £18,500 to buy it - not a trade-in obviously. I heard an advert on the radio for Motorway. You download their app, take about a dozen photos of the car and upload them. They circulate it to their network of dealers. They valued my Mazda at £21,715. It went live with them a couple of days ago and I received a text message saying they would email me at 3.00p.m. with the result. At 3.01 p.m. their email arrived advising me that it had sold for the full reserve price £21,715. The dealer is coming to collect it next Friday, will inspect it on my drive, authorise a "fast pay" into my bank account and drive off in it once I have confirmed the money is in my account. I am really impressed with the service and hand-holding all the way by Motorway and would recommend them to anyone trading in their present wheels before taking delivery of their elusive MME. By the way, they take no commission for the sale - presumably the buyer pays them.
