I have finally decided to cancel both of my orders. A combination of factors has led me to this decision, but the overriding factor has been the way that Ford UK has treated virtually every single person who has pre-ordered. If it had not been for Rebecca I would have cancelled a month ago. She alone at Ford has been outstanding, and I have found Hannah to also be very helpful. The 2 dealers I have tried to order through have been more than useless. Seriously, for a Ā£50k to Ā£58k car this is unacceptable on every level. I have opted for a Kia EV6. Yes I will have to wait longer, but Kia UK and the local dealer have both been responsive and the dealer has set up a once-a-month call to keep me updated and answer any questions I may have. I know it is not a Mustang, but it is still a great car with a comprehensive specification and a 7 year warranty to boot.

The reason for this post is that I will be cancelling a First Edition Red, and an Extended Range RWD Red which has the Ā£3k PICG. I do not know if it is possible for someone to pick up this order and have the grant - if anyone knows, and anyone wants to pick this car up, happy to let them have it and the savings.

I hope that all of you who have stuck in there from the beginning receive your cars soon, and that they exceed your expectations thus making the wait worthwhile. It is a great car, beautifully built and designed. I will keep checking in on this forum to see how you all get on. Hopefully Ford UK will throw some worthwhile freebies your way, maybe some free charging as a minimum.

I know exactly how you feel... I think the PiCG is lost as the next customer will not qualify. I finally got my deposit back from Ford today having served them a Notice before Action letter. I looked at my emails - I gave them a grand on the 18/11/2019 and I got it back nearly four months after cancelling my first order. I have 162 emails to and from Ford. No wonder it's all too much for some of us.

I think the MME is a great choice and I'm sure you will all love your cars when they are delivered. Ford need to dig themselves out of the 1950's.

Same here.

A local professional has given me a great quote and GTechniq is one of the best but has to be applied by a professional.

I canā€™t wait to see it on my motor!
I've always used GTechniq and it is fantastic stuff. My four year old Discovery looks great with no paint swirls. The home applied stuff is good but you need to be meticulous and it's a whole days work in good weather. I'm not sure the Pro stuff is better... perhaps.

Sorry to hear of another unhappy victim of Ford's "customer service".

They don't deserve the custom but I think they don't care about losing customers. I mean seriously that is obvious. Why? I don't know.

My dealer is a star so I am one of the few lucky ones.

It's a shame that so close to the finish Ford made you feel so neglected that you decided to cancel your orders. I hope you get the experience you want from Kia, and the EV6 lives up to your expectations and arrives when you expect it to.

Personally I'm super excited to get my Mach E, totally acknowledge that Ford massively messed up the interactions in trying to create an online ordering system then deferring so much to dealers that didn't appear to expect it or know how to treat the process.

It's still an awesome car and my dealer has really perked up now that he's actually seen and driven a Mach E as part of the tour :)

The fun and perils of pre-ordering new tech.....particularly during a pandemic when lots of dealers were furloughed...

I respect your decision, but are you sure?

Almost like walking in a dead man's shoes, if you really are stepping away- my order is for a red RWD er. Be happy to take over your order if the car is built and in transit- but no idea if this can be done?

Sadly yes, I am sure. I have had a BMW i3 for 5 years now, and despite it being a really great car, my local BMW dealer has been a nightmare and made it an unpleasant experience. I fear Ford will be the same. So I will ask Rebecca if there is any way I can get this transferred over to you. Would be very happy if it meant you got yours sooner. I will message you as soon as she responds.

I have heard a rumour that Stuart Rowley, President Ford EUR, is in the country tomorrow so I imagine that a big fuss is going to be made of one lucky person who is to be the first person in the UK to receive their MME. To give whichever dealer it is to get the car ready in all respects I would hazard a guess and say that this is likely to be Wednesday. Good luck to whoever it is.
Right, what we need to do is kidnap this guy, and the ransom... all our MME's outside our houses!!! ???

Agreed. What finally convinced me was that I reserved the Kia on the day it was announced for Ā£100. The dealer then called me once reservations were open for confirmation and requested a Ā£250 deposit, informing me that Kia UK would refund the Ā£100. Within 3 days it was refunded. Since my reservation I have had regular e-mails from Kia. I would have loved the Mach e, it is fabulous, but the thought of dealing with Ford afterwards is not a pleasant one. BMW have been equally bad with my i3. So far Kia have been a million times better. Plus I get HUD, VTL, 20 inch wheels, ventilated seats, much better seat adjustment, AWD, Heated Rear Seats and several other improved specs, all for the same price as the ER RWD. So I can just about put up with it being a Kia!! But every time I see a Mach e I will always have a 'what if' moment.

All of you deserve a great car, and I hope before long you have one. And if FORD put Rebecca in charge, you will also have 5 Star service!

Okay- I ordered mine a month ago- I have a vin and a build date of may 25th, eta mid Sept. If you are at a similar stage then probably best to move it on to someone who has a longer lead time- if any one has! But if yours is on it's way...

A big gamble though on a car that isn't actually out or comprehensively reviewed yet. I wasn't going to argue, but it sounds like you haven't actually cancelled yet based on your discussion with Tony.....so....

Are you sure the Kia dealer experience is going to be better? If so then your Kia dealer is much better than mine. I've said it before, but I have yet to find any car dealer that has lived up to my expectations, so my expectations for Ford were pretty low anyway.....

As for the items you've mentioned I don't consider any of them particularly important if the overall quality isn't there. I'm not saying it wont be, but in my opinion:

- HUDs are overrated. The screen on the Mach E will be readable all the time, and when I test drove it was easy to move the steering wheel so I could clearly see it and all the information it provides
- 20 inch wheels. Other than possibly looking good, which is a personal thing, these could impact ride quality depending on the rest of the package i.e. suspension, tyres etc. Of course I may be biased as I like the look of the 18" grey alloys on the Mach E and the tyre profile matches the style of the car very nicely
- Ventilated seats might be nice, but I've never had them so don't consider them a must have
- What do you mean by much better seat adjustment? The ER RWD Mach E I drove adjusted in every way that mattered to me? I guess you mean tilt?
- V2L is not a factor for me. If I wanted a battery for my house I'd put a battery in my house so my house doesn't drain my car etc

Lets not forget worse performance, worse range, very likely worse handling and it's cheaper for a reason so materials may feel worse although that is also highly subjective. It also isn't out yet, looks terrible from any angle that includes the rear and lets not forget the delays that all manufacturers are seeing right now.

This is my opinion and you probably have a different perspective. As long as you aren't going to regret cancelling your Mach E in the long run.

OK so I've cracked the F12 hack and I get the following...

"contractSource":"Web",

"gobStatusCode":"VPRT",

"gobStatusDesc":"AtPort",

"vmacs2CharCode":"91",

"vmacs3CharCode":"711",

"vmacsStatusDesc":"COMPOUND IN ",

"vmacsStatusDate":"2021-04-27 11:58:00.0",

But I think I need an enigma machine! Should I be excited and pestering my dealer, or checking boat crossings from Flushing??

That's a proper take down of the Kia! I had a little chuckle. Especially "looks terrible from any angle that includes the rear".

With the vehicle to load, I would never buy a battery as an alternative! The cost makes it pointless and more worth buying the kia! Then rag the battery knowing it is covered by warranty.

I'm sticking with my mache. I love reading opinions of the mache and other options.

All fair points and well reasoned. Am I sure the Kia dealer will be any better? Hard to say. Based on early experiences then far better than my chosen Ford dealer in that they have replied to my contact requests 3 times out of 3 so far. Ford is 2 times out of 9 (excluding the concierge).

Range is an interesting point. My experience with the i3 is that for 7 to 8 months of the year the range is affected by temperatures being less than optimal. The EV6 heat pump will help a lot so I reckon I may well get a very similar range to the Mach e in real world conditions, and judging by the range achieved by our friends in the USA. But as I charge at home every night, not really an important consideration for 50 weeks a year. The other 2 will leave me at the mercy of the charging network!

Seat Adjustment is tilt - not a biggie, but I like support under my legs.

I agree with you that the 18" alloys on the ER RWD look good - especially in the flesh.

I am sure I would be very very happy with either car, it really does come down to the complete lack of response from the Ford dealerships (I have been dealing with two of them here in London) and so far the very good response from Kia. If either dealer had taken 5 minutes to respond and answer my queries then I would still be all-in for the Mach e. Even when I went to test drive the guy responsible for my order could not be bothered to come and say hello but sent out someone else to deal with me.

I think for all of you who have had the resilience and determination to hang on in there, you will get fabulous cars that will put a smile on your face each time you jump in it. It is a fabulous car. But I have no emotional connection to either this or the Kia. I still have one for my ageing Alfa, a car that puts a smile on my face every day, but which soon will be obsolete thanks to our Mayor!!

Up until this point how often have you needed to power your house from a battery or come across a time when youā€™ve genuinely thought ā€œI wish I could power my house from my carā€

Itā€™s a neat idea in concept, but not exactly needed. When batteries are cheaper then it will be worth doing to maximise solar panel usage but you donā€™t need a Mach E or Kia size battery pack to do that.
