Received the Radio presets update today 23-PU0110-RAD-PS. Wouldn't download overnight so had to "force it" today which I have done with a couple of updates in the past. The mobile signal where I live is so bad that only one signal strength indicator bar used to light up on the phone.

Now, since Vodafone have switched off the 3G signal, the 4G signal is non existent (no signal strength bars) and the phone reverts to EDGE instead of 3G and I think that the UK Mache -e's use Vodafone for the internal SIM.

So, I tried again today at a place I know has a good signal coverage (all bars lit) and selected to start the update immediately and it worked. Presumably due to the very good signal strength (at 4G) plus faster downloading. This place happens to be a nice Marina which is very relaxing, sitting outside a nice cafe, in a sun trap with excellent rolls and sandwiches and cake.

I have to tell my wife, sorry dear, we've got to go out to the Marina as the car needs updating. ;)

Teslaeata, I've developed a very quiet but perceivable whining noise when I accelerate, it sound like its the electric motor (you can hear it increase and drop with speed). I'll try and get it recorded but it's only just started happening or has got loud enough the hear, any ideas? This was at 78k miles....

Hi, DV.

Well, that’s interesting.

I thought my transmission whines a bit.

Never can make my mind up if it’s EMS (electric milkfloat syndrome) so is normal electric motor sound and is something I just become aware of or is something that really has developed.

I got over 85k on clock at the minute so intend sending it in for its 3rd service soon, sooner if they get the HVJB for that recall, when I’ll get them to change transmission oil and save a sample of new & old oil to send for analysis.

If there’s raised levels of aluminium, phosphor bronze, iron etc content in there could suggest which parts if any are wearing more than they should.

It’s an interesting project, owning and putting an EV to meaningful use.

Has to be said that I don’t get and don’t get concerned about the clogging EGR & DPF, dodgy noises & failures of dodgy dual mass flywheel technology, leaking adblue injectors and all the other probs ICE vehicle technology presents which is a bonus which offsets anything I ever experience with the Stang, not that I have had any problems which is good.

It’s a pretty amazing car………..still.

OK, so I have pulled the trigger and ordered my replacement lease car due for delivery in October. Sadly, mainly due to the attitude of Ford as a company, I will not be getting another Mach-E and have instead selected a VW ID.5.

This was my first Ford vehicle and unless their attitude to customers (once they have your money) changes I will not have another.

Other reasons include:
  • Cost - the ID.5 is considerably cheaper for the same size/spec. of vehicle
  • Availability
  • And I'm fed up with the Mach-E being a tw*t magnet when on the road.

Hi Steve

You might want to see

He concentrates on VW ID cars so might give you some useful hints and tips, especially relating to software. Please give us your feedback on how you find your ID.5 and even if you no longer frequent this forum please give us your member name on whichever VW forum you use as we can still follow your adventures. It's good to know what real life experiences are like on the alternatives out there.

Would anyone in the UK with a MY23 with BlueCruise be prepared to share their VIN with @rugedraw. Idea is to compare software differences between the MY23 with BlueCruise and my MY21 which has all the latest OTAs. Trying to understand why Ford has not activated MY21/22 vehicles in the UK for BlueCruise and determine how different our software versions are. Would be so much easier if Ford could just communicate with us early adopters though. Thanks in anticipation.

You can also go try to go to local Ford dealer websites that may have some in stock and get me the VIN off of one or more of those.

Hurtling down A1 yesterday, realised the MOT had run out 3 days prior?

Booked an MOT in a hurry after my second vehicle examination in Watford and the guys at Cousins Garage of Watford, in particular Dennis who MOT Tested it were brilliant and got me out of gaol!!

Panic and possibly a stop by Police averted.

Oh, and Stang passed its first MOT?

Street legal for another year?????

And my motor trade insurer finally decided to insure EVs so can cancel the £800 separate motor policy.

I love my life, and I love this car which just gets better & better ?

I’ve sent my VIN over to rugedraw via a DM. Hope it helps

My MY23 MachE has bluecruise as used it during the free trial however the sub has been cancelled as have no need for it and wasn’t going to pay the £12 per month, think its that much?

£12.00 per month is a bit much for a half baked solution that only works on Motorways and then probably not all.

Thanks mate.
The problem is his is a 2023, so if he has BC 1.2 or 1.3, I cannot use the config on his car to see if yours is off. I would need the VIN of a 2021 or a 2022 with BC 1.0.

Edit: I messaged you. We can take the rest of the process to PM's.

Just had a notification that due to FordPass "improvements" ? some features are being taken away from 30th June. Presumably the new interface. Only software developers could call improvements to mean reduced features. It's a wonder they didn't include the word "solution" as well.

I’ve come to realise this is par for the course for Ford. As much as I love my Mach E, the software experience leaves a lot to be desired.…

Yep the EV trip planner is now gone.
Why do they keep removing features can they not just leave them optional, not everything worked perfectly but people are using some of these features so just leave them in.
