After more than a month to even get PaaK set up (with the help of a Ford Guide), like many reported it has, at best, been inconsistent and slow. I had thought it only worked with FordPass on, but a week ago forgot and and left it off. To my surprise, it worked fine. I've left FordPass off and it has been quicker to unlock/start and is what I had hoped for. Whether this is coincidence(software updates) or actually cause/effect I'm not sure, but consider it for anyone still having PaaK reliability issues.

What exactly to you mean by leaving Ford pass off? You mean like closing the app on your phone?

yes, since leaving the app closed the PaaK is working better. As I noted before, this may be coincidental but I'm leaving it closed for now.

I haven’t been doing anything different and it seems to be quicker and more consistent over the last two weeks. More often than not I only bring my phone now.

So there is hope? At least twice I had to use the manual keypad to get in and start with backup code.

Do you guys leave bluetooth off and only turn it on when approaching the car or leave it bluetooth on 24/7?

I always leave Bluetooth on. I have at least 6-7 devices that use Bluetooth with my phone in the course of a day. I could definitely not be bothered to turn it on and off every time I need it.

I will agree that PaaK seems to be maybe a little faster to connect than it had been. Since getting my Mach E in March, I have almost exclusively used only PaaK, as I love hot having to keep a fob in my pocket, even if it does mean it takes a few seconds longer to get in the car. It is seeming a little faster of late, but maybe I am also just getting used to it...

Would love to have @Ford Motor Company weigh in on PaaK issues now that they're on the forum. It is my only significant complaint about this car, which I otherwise love. I have a young child and cannot have "spotty" key functionality. Given how dysfunctional PaaK is, a second fob should have been provided under warranty since PaaK is, well, defective for many of us...

Yeah mine is under my bedroom! They really should have used NFC for this.
My attached garage is below my bedroom and alongside my family room and my phone connects to it. I've reverted to closing the FordPass app when I don't specifically need to use it. (I'm on Android 10 - so I swipe up to dismiss it.)

I'm (hopefully) going to have my car soon and my garage is attached to the house, too. So you're saying if I use PaaK that the car will constantly be turning on its lights and folding out the mirrors and whatnot if I'm in range?

well, I can't see into the garage when I'm in the house, so I don't know what's going on in there. ?

Swipe to dismiss does not close an app. You gotta force stop it.

Closing Apps on Android
If you do dismiss the app, the PAAK service will still be running. On my phone (Note 20) I see a "non-alerting notification" that indicates that PAAK is trying to connect to my vehicle"
I would assume that if you force stop the app that this PAAK service would also be killed. But I don't see a reason to do that if you are using PAAK.
I have seen that when FordPass gets updated it doesn't automatically restart that PAAK service.
