Hi All - I'm super excited to share that Recurrent was just awarded an NSF grant for our ongoing EV battery degradation study! It's very cool to have our research validated by NSF and it means we can get rid of our waitlist and start studying newer models...

Speaking of which, we would love to get some Mach-E drivers to help us test and get battery data. We have plenty of Teslas and Bolts and Leafs...but not Mach-E! If anyone is interested, we also send along monthly battery reports to our research drivers, so you get some cool data in addition to helping science :)

Happy to answer any questions,

Liz

Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor. Always like to see aggregation of data and scientific approaches rather than just anecdotes.

Be glad to participate. I tried to sign up before but there were issues with getting our Leaf connected.

Sorry to hear that! There are year and trims of Leafs that don't support NissanConnect, but you can always shoot me a message at [email protected] if it's a different issue or if you (or anyone!) want to help us get set up with a Mach-E!

Completely forgot about this since the OP was months before I got my car. Just signed up. Hopefully a bump will get you more participants now that more of us have taken delivery.

I'm reluctant to give my FordPass login information to a 3rd party.

Totally fair and no pressure. As an FYI, Recurrent doesn't actually store your password, we just use it to create an authentication token that allows us to retrieve only the data you explicitly opt into, but we really want want anyone to feel uncomfortable.

But it's not Recurrent, it's Smartcar.com that I'm giving the info to. And they specifically that they ARE STORING MY LOGIN INFORMATION...

Account Information: If you authorize a Third Party Service that utilizes our Service to access your vehicle information, we collect and store Personal Data about you (“Account Personal Data”), such as your email address, password, PIN (OEM account credentials) and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), as necessary to enable you to use applications made available to you by Developers. https://smartcar.com/privacy/#a.-end-user-information

No thanks.

So, to be clear, while you said "Recurrent doesn't actually store your password, we just use it to create an authentication token that allows us to retrieve only the data you explicitly opt into", in fact Smartcar, which you are apparently using to get the data, in fact stores all the information to log into my FordPass account, as well as my VIN, and email address. ?

It also points out that if Smartcar is bought out, that the data would be transferred to the new entity.

I find it disingenuous that you'd make what appears to be a totally false statement.

Clearly people can decide who they want to share their data with, but a company giving what appears to be false assurances should raise a red flag. I didn't provide my info to Smartcar, and asked Recurrent to delete the account I created (which they did).
