Yea I saw one dealership selling their demo car for only 2k under MSRP. That gives me hope for my own car's resale value.. if I decide to trade it in on a Lightning or GT. Things I haven't been able to decide....
That's the first one I've heard of going for under MSRP.

Interesting, yea it was a dealer outside St. Louis. Haven't seen anything over MSRP (ADM) in this area either. Here's to hoping our trade in values stay up! Really hope we don't turn into the Bolt, with the worst resale values I have ever seen. (I don't think we will)

Leaf resale values are abysmal too.

It all depends if they titled it or not and if their are an excessive amount of miles. The program is confusing with what appears to be a rebate for dealer who keeps them to term.

Very confusing if one is able to get the TAX credit or if the dealer should be offering the rebate to the customer. Very easy for them to just keep the rebate and offer a slight discount off MSRP to entice a very profitable sale. I know I am doubting the dealer here but haven't seen them being all for the helping the customer save $.

It would almost appear the demos are a sure win for the dealer.

Thanks for the details! This may explain why our dealer allowed us to put 1500 miles on their demo!! That was enough to get them over the 2000 mile limit!

I think this part helps folks know if their state requires to be titled when a demo. When the dealer takes the rebate one needs to be informed. So in the states that take the rebate the dealer should be giving you the rebate upfront. This is great for folks who can't take the rebate due to individual tax situations or folks who want it upfront.

I have a question. Upon reading this topic (I have placed a deposit on a demo unit), I ran a carfax report on the reserved vehicle. The history report only notes the date of manufacture (1/27/21) and the comment section states "Vehicle manufactured and shipped to the original dealer." Am I correct in assuming the dealer has not titled the vehicle and it is free and clear for me to take the federal tax credit? I do not see my dealer referenced on any part of this report. FYI the dealership is located in North Carolina. Thanks!!

In simple words, if a Texas dealer is selling an FCTP vehicle, who will claim the tax credit? After reading the above, I am assuming the Customer is the one that will get the tax rebate. Please correct me if I am wrong here. TIA

Since Texas is not listed, I would assume that the dealer is required to title the FCTP unit. If that is the case then the dealer would claim the tax credits from the IRS and the customer would get the compensating $7500 rebate from Ford.

I am reading this other way around, since Texas is not in the list it is not eligible for rebate discount program. Hence they are not claiming and will oass it to the customer !
My dealer is saying they are not claiming tax credit and hence no discount.
Did anyone experience this?
@DealerInsider , could you please correct us?

Ah, OK I had to go back and read the whole thing. I think you're right.

During your sale if the dealer titles it as 'New' then the customer goes to claim the tax credit from the IRS. If they title it as 'Used' then the Bonus Cash from Ford should apply.

So if your dealer is not giving you the bonus cash then just watch the title work.

Carfax would never give me a straight answer. They would only say they rely on others volunteering accurate information. However, the dealer verified (in writing) they had not titled the car and it was clear for me to claim the rebate.
