I ended up here after pre-ordering a Tesla Model Y AWD LR. 0-60 4.8 seconds. Drove the car and loved it. But I'm extremely picky about by vehicles and I knew that the fit and finish issues Tesla is currently experiencing would drive me nuts.

That said, if the Model Y 75KW battery gives that kind of performance, I don't see any reason why the Mach E LR 98.8kw battery would not allow for at least a 5.0 second 0-60.

Does anyone else find it odd that on order day, we still have no idea what the performance characteristics of the Mach E are? I'm hoping Ford is holding an Ace in their sleeve and the MachE will be comparable to Tesla's performance stats. I really hope this car can compete performance wise with Telsa outside of ordering a GT.

Thoughts?

We're still 6 months out on full production, they don't really have many cars out yet (I'm guessing there is very few pre-production models at this point).

Thus final software is likely not finished and thus they can't release "real" numbers because they are still tweaking.

Not surprised at all.

I'm less concerned about 0-60, but I am disappointed they're taking actual orders without official EPA range and mileage #'s yet.

I guess that's the roll of the dice taken with pre-ordering a brand new vehicle so early. Which is why I'm pretty sure I'll be waiting until some vehicles are on the road before ordering. Could be why they're allowing (non-FE) reservations to stay intact until Dec 31.

And, if you can find a dealer willing to put in writing that their deposit is refundable (or better yet, $0), there's no harm in ordering now but having the option to back out until you're ready to drive your vehicle off the lot.

I got that in writing from mine.

About that: I spoke to my sales person and that was one of the questions I brought up. He indicated to me that Michigan has strong consumer protection laws: I can walk away at any time, the dealer will be "stuck" with the vehicle and I'll eventually get my deposit back--Michigan Law. (My salesperson is pretty straight with me: We've purchased at least a dozen Fords through this dealership over the last couple of decades.)

May want to check your local laws.

The battery packs should, in the least, enable the MachE to reach the published estimates. They are good size batteries. But yes, it's disappointing we don't have firm numbers.

Tom Hotzer Ford?
Nope, Jack Demmer--right across the street from Michigan Assembly (where Ranger's are currently built, and the Focus Electric was).

True. I just don't think I wanna make that much commitment with possible intent of canceling. Maybe I'm a little old fashioned that way but I'd feel kinda bad backing out at the last minute. And I don't want that influencing my choice at that point. Just feel better waiting without feeling even partially committed.

Same here. I'm almost 100% sure I'm waiting until at least November this year to convert, pending the economy and availability of demos. It's very possible if I do convert it will literally be on Dec 31.

I'll just play it by ear. My res# is down quite a ways at 29xxx, so I was probably looking at something like Mar or Apr for delivery anyway. Waiting until Dec to order might mean getting leapfrogged if I had an early res#, but I don't so it probably won't hurt anything to wait. My state tax credit drops from $4000 to $2500 next year, but COVID killed any (already slim) chance I probably had of getting delivery before Dec 31.

I just hope there's some way to sit in one before the end of the year. Really not sure what to expect on the timing of dealer demos. The news on those is scarce and often contradictory. I'll probably contact my dealer in Nov and ask for a heads-up when their first MME comes in. Even if it's a customer vehicle that arrives first, maybe they'll let me just sit in it before the buyer gets there. ?

I did a part-way order yesterday on that dealer as just a test before backing out, and there was no ADM showing. So that's a good sign.

We do now, or at least the we in Europe. The Mach E4X:
5.1-second 0-100 km/h (0‑62 mph) acceleration

Hopefully that means 5.0 or 5.1 0-60 mph on NA models.

It was a buried lede in https://media.ford.com/content/ford...y-quick-mustang-mach-e-gt-for-europe--no.html

Ford also today announced that the standard Mustang Mach-E equipped with an extended-range battery and all-wheel drive delivers 5.1-second 0-100 km/h (0‑62 mph) acceleration5 – equal to the Tesla Model Y Long Range model – and a targeted WLTP pure-electric driving range of up to 540 km (335 miles).4

4Officially homologated energy efficiency figures will be published closer to on-sale date. The declared fuel/energy consumptions, CO2-emissions and electric range are determined according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended. Light Duty Vehicle type-approved using the World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) will have fuel/energy consumption and CO2-emission information for New European Drive Cycle (NEDC) and WLTP. WLTP will fully replace the NEDC latest by the end of the year 2020. The applied standard test procedures enable comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. During NEDC phase-out, WLTP fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are being correlated back to NEDC. There will be some variance to the previous fuel economy and emissions as some elements of the tests have altered, so the same car might have different fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

5Ford test data based on testing methodology using 1-ft rollout i.e. from a rolling start.

Still no update to the range though. That's the same 335 "targeted" WLTP miles (ER AWD).

Was hoping they would get the AWD to under 5 seconds.
