Hi,

I'm pretty sure this is more of an apple issue than it is Ford. But I checked all iphone settings, and even compared with a friend using carplay on his BMW.

Whenever i'm connected to carplay, my phone will NOT buzz, the screen won't light up, nothing. I have to manually check my screen to see if there's any notifications. When my friend using carplay, his phone still buzzes and gets vibrations.

I've spent weeks checking every notification settings and do not disturb is 100% off in every way possible.

Is this happening to other people?

I know that, when I'm connected to carplay, the center screen tells me when new text messages come in. But I haven't paid attention to whether the same text message notification pops up on my iPhone. I'll have to check.

My iPhone doesn't "ring" through the car when a call comes in. I can talk but I have to manually open the phone. I can call out without a problem. I have an iPhone 12 Pro. I need to check the settings but I haven't got around to it.

From what I see, once Apple CarPlay takes over all notifications and control move to the 15.5" screen. To me it seems like that is exactly what it should do.

3.27 was not kind to carplay wi-fi for me. It has been OK in the past which indicates it can get better? I am back to brute force 1' usb C and I am no longer looking for elegant workarounds with things that do not really matter such as paak and carplay. Trying to get software to work that has lots of random glitches can become a long task. I will try again with 3.28. Just updated from 14.6 to 14.7.1 maybe that helped? I think Ford will need to conform to iOS not the other way around. It appears to be a continued work in progress with every release giving something to discuss.

Like I said, I need to check mine out as it may be doing just what you said. Truthfully, I don't think anybody has texted me while I'm in the car. The only thing I have done is call out using CarPlay .

I'll check it out today.

I don’t mean specifically text messages. I mean all notifications.

And for people who say it should be this way, I have an Apple Watch and would at least appreciate if the watch buzzed. Right now neither notify me of anything.

Again, my friends BMW had his phone notifying him. So it might be a Ford thing actually

OK, I went out to the car and turned it on with Car Play running. I received her call and it was on the screen. Then she texted me and I received it also. Siri read the text as it did not appear on the screen. When I answered the text I had to use Siri again.

So, to me, it seems to be working like I would assume it should. I've never had a car with Car Play before so I don't know how it is supposed to work.

I usually have Car Play running and not Sync 4a so I don't know how that would handle a text.

This is normal expected behavior. I’m talking about other notifications from any other app.

I haven't checked notifications from another app other than the phone and message apps. I get a notification every time the garage door goes up or down via e-mail. Haven't seen anything on the screen however. I'll make a conscious effort to look for messages and notifications.

Wow!

I need to figure out why I'm not. What's your watch OS and iphone version? Now we know it's not a Ford thing.

7.6.1 and 14.7.1.
Mine is on 7.6 and 14.7.

Upgrading both now to see if anything changes. I really want this to work, I don't use carplay because of it.

What's wrong with the entire upper part of the 15.5" screen switching to the Messages app for text or the Phone app for calls? How much notification do you need?
