First Road Trip

Heading to Jamaica this week and concerned about range

Actually our first trip in the MME is from Huntsville to Atlanta for flying out. The distance isn't really a stressed on our std range MME so should be an excellent first test. Due to international flight leaving early we will drive about an hour from the airport, stay overnight and hopefully have hotel access chargers. If not looks like several EA charges around and close to grab a quick charge for a buffer and use the free credits for the first time. I picked a covered off airport parking garage that has EA chargers too so after our week in Jamaica will grab a charge and return to the same hotel an hour away and finish our trip hone the next day.

Excited to try the MME out on the road away from home. We looked at a trip to DC/VA originally but couldn't do that with 4 of us and no charging options at the house we stayed at so this is just my wife and I for a relaxing get away.

Sounds like a fun trip! We are 10 days out from our first road trip. It will be around 800 miles up to Panama City Beach and back.

Nice PCB is our beach trip, there seems to be more charging challenges for us to goto PCB in the plans I've looked at as charging is spotty in AL

There’s a Harley dealer in PCB that has an EV charger. Hoping to get enough charge there to make it back to first EA stop on the way home!

Trip going well. MME performed excellent arrived with 30% battery and first time using EA was perfect.

We are now 3 days away from our first road trip. I keep checking plugshare to get the latest status for my EA charging stops in Gainesville and Tallahassee!!

Lake City is a good backup for Gainesville, I think. Just make sure to have enough in the battery to make alternate sites along the way

I am going to charge up to 100% Thursday night and head out Friday Morning. Lake City is about 170 miles from where I live so that could be an alternate in case things don’t work out in Gainesville! By the time we get to Gainesville we will be ready for lunch at Steak n Shake! Lol

170 should be fine. My regular range had us 167m with 80m buffer,,came in with 76m buffer.

Enjoy your trips! We drove Tampa to Fort Worth a couple of weeks ago and the car did great. Overall, EA was great too. The Gainesville charger worked fine for us. Have a blast!

If gainesville doesn't work out and you stop at the FPL chargers there is a steak-n-shake about 200 yards away!

Just a heads up. About a month ago the Gainesville EA at the Target was a mess. Two units were out and had been for a while. The third was giving me 34kw. The fourth worked. Luckily I was the only one there. Check Plug Share and EA before you count on that one.

Lake City EA is at a gas station. Sounds good on paper but let’s just sat it could have been cleaner. And there was no washer fluid at the pumps. Maybe it was a bad day.

Per plugshare, 2 units are still down in Gainesville. Last check in on August 6 stated station 4 was working. Looked thru the pictures and I could see that Steak n Shake is within easy walking distance!

Made it home, no issues at all. Got a 2nd P&C to 80%, made it home with 20 miles left. Original estimate was 25miles, so seems good to me. MME basically acted like a regular car, so great job Ford!

We just completed our 900 mile trip but Gainesville EA was a bust! I got NO charge there but Lake City EA saved the day!
