I don’t understand the disparity in results with PAAK. Mine has been mostly 100% reliable with just two on operator error failures. Others can barely get it to work. I think a lot of it is Bluetooth idiosyncrasies and limits, but the vast differences just don’t make much sense.
The part that I can't figure out is the day to day variance. I am pretty close to 90% reliability with PaaK. The scenario I laid out in my post is the exact same thing I did yesterday. Even down to within minutes of the same time of day (taking my son to school). Yesterday it worked exactly as expected -- 0 delay or issue. This morning I got the GFY!?!?!?! Same phone/app version/SW version on the car.
I know @ChasingCoral and others have confirmed that PaaK works without a network connection, but it sure seems like FP tries to contact the Ford servers and gets a response it doesn't like then crashes. ?‍♂

Bluetooth might have a connection failure because a next door neighbors wifi router was in the middle of a transmission with the neighbors laptop and you had just the right scraps of metal in the right places to bounce the signal off your BLE receiver. It's a TERRIBLE technology to use for this purpose and in this way. The best they can hope for is Tesla level reliability which is still not perfect. It's a fun toy.

The fact they added backup codes should tell you what the developers thought of it's reliability right off the bat. lol... If you have to engineer a "backup" you likely realized it was "needed".

I'm using a 12 Pro Max. Paak works fine usually at or near 100% of the time absent operator error.

The Qi charging is slow but it does charge consistently, probably due to the size -- it wedges into the spot quite securely. The MME charger though is not a MagSafe charger so it'll be slow from that perspective.

As for the network connection part, I'm a bit baffled honestly. I seem to recall @ChasingCoral being in the Everglades National Park with no coverage and had to use codes to get going. But I've been known to remember things that never happened, just ask my wife. ;)

I've also had problems on two occasions with PAAK that were not explainable from my end. One occurred during a Ford network issue (June? July?) and the other occurred when FP 3.27 launched, the latter was so bad I had to delete FP, delete PAAK from the car and try again. Been fine since.

While PAAK works for me, I might add that there's a FOB in a Faraday bag tucked away in a hidden part of the car as well. So it's not like I trust it completely.

Not to side with your wife, but my recollection is that @ChasingCoral had the opposite experience. ?‍♂

I have the Fordpass crash problem not too long ago. Try these steps:

1. Delete the Ford pass app.
2. Go to the Bluetooth setting and “forget” all Fordpass related BT connections. Like sync4,
3. Go To general->CarPlay “forget” sync4.
3. Re-install Fordpass app
4. Setup PAAK again.

So far so good. Hope it fixes your problem too.
Between 3 & 4 you need to delete your paak keys from the car screen

yeah, we were always fine until this past week. 5 months with really no issues to complain about... then BRICK. I have tried every suggestion and made it worse... a Master Reset appears to be the worst possible thing to try. Now the FP servers don't respond, the Plug & Charge , Navigation , Charge Times% , and PAAK setup all get deleted... The app does not allow the PAAK setup to be redone.

I believe there are some 'dynamic' content fields in the FP app that doesnt show up unless the "Backend" servers respond... and they are "Not Responding" for the last 24 hours...

I still love the car.. but now I need to go get another FOB

On the phone with Ford about getting a second FOB. They are clueless of any PaaK issues. Dealer is researching but has no info on a second FOB.

In regards to the backup password, it is so difficult and time consuming to get it to appear on the screen. Often I have to cycle the car a few times and wait a minute or two for it to appear.

Come on FORD!!! Why is this such a nightmare?

I did a Faraday bag to as backup insurance with PAAK being so bad I felt it was needed. However if you have a iPhone I used the shortcut feature that was posted and that works all the time to lock-unlock and start the car just by saying Siri.... "unlock car"

Yea, "Master Reaset" is not a good idea. Just reset the PaaK and associated settings, following page 63 of the Owner's Manual.

If I was you I'd delete the apps from the phone and try again.

You can test pretty easy just turn off wi-fi and cellular data on your phone and see what works. I had problems booting fordpasss if no wan connection on earlier versions but it appears all works for me with no wi-fi and cellular data (even airplane mode) now. 3.28

Paak is working fine for me also maybe different servers for us?

He was in the everglades (no cell service) when it happened you should go back and see. I remember passcodes were required.

Edit: typo

Correct. PaaK would not work at all without connection to the outside world
