I'm thinking the same, but waiting for a Mach-E to roll up next to me. Based upon the GTPE numbers currently, I have nothing to worry about in my Y. No contest in my wife's 3 Performance.
Long Range Dual Motor 3/Ys are everywhere. I'd like to think in a MME GT that I could get up to 35mph quicker than the Teslas.

Where in the past has a car been released and the media not gotten access to it until 2 months after it was built for normal customers? Heck even the Maverick is already being driven by the media and it's not even out yet.

Do we really think they're doing this simply because there aren't enough cars available for the media right now.... or can we say almost for sure from this that there is something going on that Ford is trying to change before the media gets ahold of them?
It could be argued this is just another trim level so all the press excitement was directed at the launch models, however as the GT was known to be a later trim that would appeal to those wanting model Y performance matching spec the lack of press and reviews from the more enthusiast biased media before the model ends up in owners hand is very odd.

Then again when I ordered the GTPE the order guide was full of typos and incorrect power figures so maybe nobody at Ford even knows what the GTPE is supposed to be.

It's bewildering. Even the notable Ford personalities on this forum are silent on the GT/GTPE. Maybe one day we'll hear the story of the 2021 Great GT Zipperlips so we can tell our grandkids.

Well, here’s the thing, I’ve run MYPs in my SS and I see lots of their runs in my Dragy app. I also see reviews like you and everyone else. They are not running 8.1s to 100mph out in the wild at 50-70 SOC and without preconditioning. Lots of 3.6s to 60 and 12.0-12.2 1/4s @ 112-114 out there. Sure there are high 11s but they’re the exception, not the rule.

Also, it’s no mystery why they’re quick/fast. Leaving out an interior saves 150-250 lbs. leaving out typical sound deadening and acoustic insulation sprays another 50-75. Before you know it you’ve saved 300-350 lbs. So if you’re Ford and you make it your #s target you’ve got a fucking tough road to hoe. I hope they get things fixed because I know the GTPE is going to outhandle the Y on track, around town and everywhere in between. And it also looks great and has a nice interior.
Good point

We’re gonna need more horsepower

The GTPE will be even with a LR Y if it has the acceleration boost. It'll beat a normal LR Y.
A Long Range 3 with the acceleration boost will beat a GTPE. A stock LR 3 will be about even.

How do you like the M3P? I almost ordered that, but then ordered the Mach E GT. The performance numbers have me worried so far. Given the M3P is $7500 less than the GT I equipped, they net out the same basically, so I’m certainly thinking about it again…
So far it's been great. Obviously it lacks the interior space of the crossovers, but feels very nimble for a 4000 lb sedan the size of a new Honda Civic. In terms of acceleration, 0-30, 0-60 is insane for car under $60k USD. 0-60 in 3.1s, no skill required, just mash the pedal.

While the model Y no doubt plays fast and loose with which conditions it has optimum performance, another date point is the polestar 2 is has a heavy weight 4714 lb that hasn't stripped away the interior and sound deadening, each motor has less power & torque (203hp / 234lb) but unlike the GTPE uses the max combined power and torque for 408hp / 486lbs yet manages to trap faster and pull from 50-70 faster.

Polestar 2 dual Motor C/D TEST RESULTS
60 mph: 4.1 sec
100 mph: 10.5 sec
Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 4.3 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 1.6 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 2.2 sec
1/4 mile: 12.7 sec @ 109 mph

Until we get press reviews with different numbers or some words from Ford something is just not right with the GTPE numbers, beaten by a model Y performance ok but the polestar 2? Unfortunately for ford the longer the radio silence the greater the speculation.

100% agree. I’ve actually driven the Polestar 2 at the Austin location. It moves and the model with the Ohlins dampers /Brembos is the one to get. But, the range is very lackluster at 225-230, and, for me at 6’3” the monstrous center console waterfall was actually a dealbreaker. Right leg had nowhere to rest comfortably. No joke.

I broke down and put in for the Model X Plaid. Went for the red multi coat paint, based on some other comments wary of Tesla paint quality. Seems like it offers the highest level of straight-line speed, family friendly capability (7 seats), range, and best infotainment experience. Delivery should be March or April of next year. Comes out to around $135k, with the autopilot.

Always been a Ford guy (Explorer, RS, and Ranger Lariat) and wanted to get the Mach E, but the uncertainty around this issue was a deal breaker for me. Maybe they will sort it out and I'll eat my $250 deposit, but we shall see....

I think you gave up early. But no matter what fix the x plaid will decimate the gtpe so it’s fine in that case. I’m considering a black wing myself because a 6 speed manual v8 sedan sounds sooooo romantic to me right now. The end of an era.

Can fully understand once you get up into the price point of the GTPE people become less forging hope all goes well with the model x plaid, who knows maybe by the time it turns up the GTPE will have finaly reached it full potential.

Let me get this straight. You could've had a Mercedes AMG wagon or Audi rs6 Avant....

But you chose a 125k Tesla?

I can excuse some things, and I don't mean this as a direct insult, but paying over $70k for a Tesla is just stupid in my books. You could say paying $125k for a Tesla is ludicrous.
