Just wait for the software update. Coming soon! Anyone notice how when you start the GT you get the same animation as the standard mach e and it even shows the normal mach e grill? Nothing from the GT model is shown. These early GT's are basically running pre production software. My guess is the motor mapping is the exact same as the 4x models. So the car thinks it's a 4x by it has a bigger front motor. I have total confidence this will run side by side with a model y performance after the update.
Whatever the reason for the GTPE spitting the bit on the big end of the 1/4, the fact that it ran a 7.90 1/8th on one guy’s first time out with TC on and prob not brake torquing on launch with 70% SOC means it’s got the balls to run 12.0s @ 110-115 if…

wait, I can’t do this any more ?

That’s some mighty strong speculation you’ve done here. You do seem super confident too.

I honestly hope you’re right. But this would be a major F up on Fords part of they shipped them with the wrong tune.

As far as the animation goes that does beg a question: Does this car just have a single computer that runs things like the touch screen, NAV as well as the power train or is it like an ICE where the PCM is completely separate?

If it’s the latter, I wouldn’t think the animation would tell us anything about if they put the wrong ā€œtuneā€ in.

I'm not sure I fully understand the logic that boils down to "Ford is smart enough to engineer a car that runs side by side with the MYP but they're also so goddamn stupid they didn't remember that the GT has a different front motor than the 4x and therefore needs different programming."

If this is really the source of the issue then none of existing GTPE out in the wild should have been allowed to get anywhere near customers hands and should have had a stop ship on them. This is really why ford needs to step up to the plate and stop with the radio silence BS they are currently doing, there are ford people that monitor these forums so it is doubtful they have not stumbled upon this thread by now.

These forums will be frequented by GTPE reservation holders that have long been waiting for delivery, so in general will be a lot more forgiving towards a fix is in the works comment even if that fix end up being months away, the current uncertainty instead will just do more to put them off.

If people are in the realms fantasy then as the GTPE does not come shipped with the frunk divider and a premium awd with a frunk divider traps faster, then clearly the source of the mach-e power is the frunk divider so I suspect to see a healthy bidding war for funk dividers as GTPE owners scramble to get hold of one.

This is me. I won’t buy the car. It’s that simple. I won’t buy the car until I’m certain.
I hate the look of the model Y and I need an suv so I’ll get an ICE suv regardless.
Maybe I’ll get a regular suv and just restomod my fastback….
Hmmmmm…..

Haha, I remember back in Y2K days when Ford shipped the updated new edge 1999 Mustang Cobra with 20-30 less HP than the advertised 320. Right when the ā€˜98-99 LS-1 powered F-Bodies were laying waste to 5.0 and 4.6 Mustangs of all sorts. You think this thread is bad? This ain’t shit. Guys crying at dyno days. Taking $10K losses and trading in for Camaro SS or Trans Am WS-6s after 3-6 months. You may remember it, or you may have been 10 yrs old, idk. Either way, Ford had to cancel Cobra production for an entire MY to get the fixes tested/implemented/in production. ā€˜99 owners got updated intake manifolds, ECU and freer flowing exhausts from cat back.

They made up for it with the terminator cobras…. What a motor… only the ls7 impressed me more… and now the Godzilla is giving me the itch to dunk one in my 70 since it fits better than a coyote and it will make stupid numbers with just heads and cam.

I definitely remember it. My brother owned a 99 GT he bought new and later an 03 Cobra. I also had an 02 Trans Am I bought new, so we luckily watched that debacle from the sidelines.

So I would think they would have learned their lesson.

That’s why until they say something, I’m not confident there is a problem to fix.

If it makes 480 hp and does 0-60 in 3.5,
They have delivered as advertised. And if they designed it to fall on its face after that…. Just a poor decision.

Cool, me too. I had jumped the Mustang ship in ā€˜98 myself, traded a ā€˜95 GTS in on a ā€˜98 Z-28 w/T56 t-tops, leather. Then owned 2 other Zs before ending up with an ā€˜02 Formula A4. And then, for some reason I got into Fox bodies. A couple of superchargers, nitrous kits and a fairly stout 347 later and I thought I knew things. Haha.

ā€œAnd let's just be clear here, despite what some Ford nut-swingers that don't know what they're talking about said earlier in the thread: this is not an issue that starts in the mid to high 80s. If it started in the mid to high 80s it wouldn't be down 7 mph to the MYP in the 1/8th. That alone proves that it starts in the 70s at the latest. It's very obviously not losing 7 mph all between 85 and 87 mph, or even 80 to 87, right before the 1/8th traps.

But the 50-70 time proves that it starts before even that.ā€

Why @Frankie ? Why call me names like nut-swinger and basically tell everyone I’m dumb while you have me blocked from seeing your posts? What grown up does that? Seriously, it’s the most chicken shit thing I’ve seen on this forum.

Before I saw this shit I had tried to blow it all off and have fun again, liked your roll racing post and everything, but, now, forget it. Have fun with the GTPE that you still bought even after all the bs posted here. I hope Ford gets them all fixed for everyone.

Cheers

I don’t have the time to pour back over 661 posts on this thread, but I seem to remember someone going after Frankie about letting his new GTPE sit unclaimed at the dealer, which was not the case (the car hadn’t been processed yet). I don’t think he threw the first e-punch.

Don’t bite on the easy bait, folks. People like to vent their aggression on a convenient, anonymous platform. Folks like Frankie are in a very tough spot - he has to decide *now* whether or not to accept the car in its current form. Many of us have the luxury of watching to see how this plays out before we have to pull the trigger. Having waited as long as he has, it has to be crushing for this to happen just as he was to buy the car.

I think we’re mostly aligned on the opinion that in its current form, the GT is disappointing, but we’re all hoping there is a solution. If it can live up to our expectations, it will be a *great* alternative to the Y. It would be great if Ford would weigh in at some point…

Yeah...it's a bit of a let down. Weird part is these times aren't WAY off the times and differences between a normal Mustang Ecoboost and the GT! Haha. Just they getting made way earlier in the run.
