Was gonna post the same thing. Just saw the Edmunds video myself. Funny thing, just like fake FSD, no 200mph for the Plaid, only 163mph haha. So my sorry slow POS SS can put 14mph on a $135K Plaid. Ok, who’s up for some 160 rolls? ??‍♂
That comment section needs to be studied by psychologists. It hurts to read, it's just one person after another trying to justify the car. People on there talking about how he doesn't know how to drive a yoke steering wheel. Yeah ok, you try going full speed around a track with a wheel that you may or may not actually grab. Good luck with your life.

Bench racing.. cyber call outs…

what’s next? Zoom arm wrestling?
Haha, no. You don’t want none of this ?. But I’m 47 and can still throw an 87mph FB along with a fairly decent change up and slider. Whatcha got?

Also the plaid does 3 seconds 0-60 no issues….
It really is stupid fast. I was driven in one today… it’s very very very fast. I wish the model x plaid was 100k and I would be all over it.

Interesting take. Considering Alistair owns a 3 and states frequently how much they like it.
I wasn't referring to the video. Just a very definite subset of posters on this forum. I do wish that the GTPE doesn't have these issues, but the silence is deafening at this point.

Yeah, I just couldn’t fork over $100K to Tesla when they don’t take build quality seriously at all. I get the speed aspect but after that it’s just all downhill. I’ve ridden in 3Ps and they are damn quick but my gosh man the rest of it.

Social pressure can be very effective. However, I REALLY hope it doesn’t come to this. The country doesn’t need yet another thing to divide people on.

It’s actually one of the things I love about the Mach E GT. It has the ability to bring together both former Prius drivers and v8 gas guzzler performance car drivers like myself.

But if they can’t deliver on the performance aspect, the Prius driver may be ok with the “compromise” but you’ll lose a ton of ICE drivers who don’t want to spent $70k to compromise on what they want in a vehicle.
I disagree a little.

I want social pressure because I believe that the environmental issues are very important. I don't desire division.

Also, I see very little compromise in driving EVs. I now have 39,000 miles driving them.

I'm not sure who you're quoting but this isn't true. I've done numerous dragy tests from 85%to 75% (2020 Model Y) and there's nothing getting throttled via software. Pulling info from my car's CAN bus also shows no discernable difference in power output between 89% and 75%. Attached is a 30-70 mph run I did last winter. Even with a battery only at 81F (max power is around 109F) and 75% SoC, it put out decent numbers repeatedly.

Interesting. I haven't driven Tesla enough to know...

I guess I'm just making fun of the whole thing. You have a car that can go 0-60, given that you have an open road that you can sit on for 10 minutes while it 'gets ready'. Like that's not a real world 2 second car (it wasn't even 2 seconds in the video either), that's a car you have to essentially go to some dead back road at 2am or to the drag strip to really get the full speed.

I get it, it's fast, but it's a party trick. Like you said, it's a car you rent for a weekend, feel what a 2 second run feels like, give the car back, and drive away in your more realistic, more comfortable, nicer interior, MME GT, Taycan, Audi RS GT, or whatever else.
Here’s my take on the Plaid.

Elon introduced it shortly after the Taycan Turbo S burst on the scene offering repeated 10 sec 1/4 miles and 2.5 sec 0-60s all with the instant track cred and handling traits of a Porsche, because “there is no substitute”. Elon knew he had to make loud noises.

So, being that Tesla doesn’t market or advertise, what does Elon do? Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to Twitter I go, hi ho hi ho. There he tweets to all of his Elon’s angels that Model S Plaid will go to Nurburgring and defeat the Taycan. Shittons of publicity in the autoworld ensues. And then the Plaid proto ends up on a flatbed trailer at the ‘Ring because it’s a Tesla. It ran like a mofo at Laguna Seca but that’s like 1:30 laps, not big boy 7 minute laps like the ‘Ring. But, mission accomplished, no advert dollars spent but all kinds of fookers throwing down deposits as always. Genius.

Fast forward 2 years and the Plaid is 1/4 mile king but it’ll never drive/handle like a Porsche. Or take repeated track laps like one. Cybertruck late AF per usual, MY, M3 getting decontented, Model S has a Knight Industries 3000 steering yoke. And still no GD FSD for any of them to show for the thousands and thousands of orders where they charged $3K, then $5K, then $7K, $8K and now $10K for it.

Oh, almost forgot. Before the Tesla trolls see this and lose their minds, I own T$LA shares and want it to succeed. But because I can see reality through a lens of logic and critical thinking I can say these things.

Those excellent EVs will also need to become price-competitive. A large majority of the world's population is far from wealthy, and can't afford to pay the current price premium for electric cars.
Agree.

A Yoke steering wheel makes sense in one circumstance, a 270 degree lock to lock setup. And that's just stupid for the road, and it's obviously not in the Telsa.
The yoke has always been a stupid idea on a road car, how is is even legal I just don't know. As for the 0-60 it was always going to one of those must wait x before it is ready as that seems to be the model s way, and more about headline grabbing numbers, while the long range model s has always been the better option but that is not as interesting for twitter and you tube influencers.
