Once when I had my Focus Electric I pulled it into the service area of the dealership, got out and stood by the door waiting for a service manager (I forget why I was there--most likely a software update LOL).

Now if you're not familiar with a Focus Electric they look identical to the ICE Focus of the time except for the fake grill on the front and "Electric" on the door (in the same spot "Mach-E" is on the side of our cars).

The service manager walks up: "What can we do for you today? How about an oil change?" To which I just stepped aside... "Oh well..I guess not"

Now in the poor guy's defense, it's probably part of a spiel he's said hundreds of times and he was just running on autopilot. I bet it didn't even register and if he realized later what he'd said, he'd be mortified. But it made me chuckle.

Wow, maybe it has a ton of miles on it. I think the service manual does call for an oil change on the front drive motor I believe. It's down the road a bit though.......wayyyyy down the road. Doubt it needed it.

And the wipers?????

There are so many joke questions. When I worked auto parts we used to get joke calls for muffler bearings, piston return springs, radiators and hoses for Corvairs and VW's (they are air cooled), spark plugs (not glow plugs) for diesels, etc.

I just listened to a voice mail a dealer left me about a used Mach-E they got in. They'd cleaned it up, installed new wipers and changed the oil! Amazing!

That happened to me. Took my MME to south bay ford in LA and the lady said the wait would be a couple of hours (they were busy). I asked what would take so long? It's electric. A dang lot porter can check the coolant, windshield wiper fluid, change the cabin air filter and inspect the tires lol. But okay......

It's amusing to see how dealerships are adapting to electric vehicles. My Nissan Leaf has one of those oil change stickers that they throw at the top of your inner windshield with a remark about a date or mileage to return by (whichever comes first, of course), and there is has a line that says "OIL TYPE: LEAF." I mean, I get it, they have standardized window stickers and they're not going to make a new set for one model of car, but it makes you think that it's going to be a rough adjustment for their business model...
