Had to pick up something on the other side of a river, Ford’s Nav oh-so-nicely helped save a bit of time by just telling me to stop and swim on through… (there is no bridge anywhere near that point.)

Also, the green area it has my driving through is a nature preserve and park with foot trails only.

Supposedly we're going to get "Yearly full map updates and quarterly "home zone" updates while service is active" but that doesn't seem very likely when the maps are already years out of date in some major cities/areas...

I definitely recommend changing your transaxle oil after every crossing. ??

Legit question here: is there any reason to use the Ford navigation over Apple or Google maps?

Yes - for the built-in range estimation and finding a charging station along your route.

Alternatively, just use an app like Plugshare that will do the same thing. Plugshare will also give you more up-to-date information charging stations. The biggest flaw with the Ford nav and charge stations is there's ZERO indication if the charging station is working properly. Within an app like Plugshare, you can see updates from other users regarding charge station functionality.

Yeah, and even at that, the last time I used Ford to include chargers, it put me on the wrong side of a major interstate to "arrive" at the EA charger bank in the middle of a never-built road. I had to use Apple Maps to find out that they were in roughly the same spot on the OTHER side of Rt. 81 in Virginia.

The sad thing is, while I am admittedly an Apple Maps fan, I actually do like the Ford navigation presentation. The integrated weather is nice, the traffic updates seem to come just as quickly as they do in Apple Maps, and the routing information is pretty clean. I don't mind using it at all. It just has a far-too-frequent habit of routing me to a completely wrong address the last mile of a route. It has to be either bad map data or a bad interpretation OF map data, and we NEED to be able to rely on this for long trips due to the charger locations (or else pay for a pro-level subscription to ABRP). I even went through Ford's gracious attempt to fix this from the lovely people here who referred me to a field engineer, and the field engineer updated all of the modules I had, but it still didn't fix the map data interpretation.

SUPPOSEDLY Apple Maps has the ability to take charging information into account and map out charger routes, but it's up to the manufacturers to implement that. We're getting closer with getting Apple Maps' turn-by-turn directions integrated into the instrument cluster, and Apple Maps knows I'm in an electric vehicle by offering "EV Chargers" instead of "Gas Stations," but boy would I like to have the icing on the cake with an ability to add chargers along my route for me.

In this case it’s just because I don’t like voice directions interrupting my music and I don’t have Apple Maps to instrument cluster yet.
I tend to alternate back and forth between them for some reason. Apple Maps feels cluttered and packed. I like Ford’s appearance better.

I'm not 100% sure that Ford is using the Here maps for this car or not like they have in the past. But, if they are, you can go here to submit map issues. If approved, its added to the map, and the next time Ford updates maps, it will be corrected.

Actually the Ford Pass App now has availability and Plugshare comments integrated in. Even the photos from Plugshare show up.
