Has anyone heard a clicking sound in the steering column when turning you steering wheel sharply? It seems to be coming from the steering column and not from the front end. I can only hear it when it’s dead silent.

I hear it. I believe it's part of the self-canceling mechanism in the steering column. It's noticeable when slightly turning the steering wheel in the opposite direction of the turn indicator that's selected.

The clicking I hear is a consistent clicking either way I turn the steering wheel without a turn signal. The faster I turn the steering wheel the faster the clicks.

In that case, it's definitely not what I suspected. I have no theories on what that could be.

Yeah I believe this has come up before, back in February or March. I have the same phenomenon where the full turn endpoint of the steering wheel seems to be resisted by the power steering module sometimes. It's a pulsing torque that I feel in the wheel when it's at either extreme.

I don't find it bothersome enough to raise a concern through a dealer. Someone on here who is a Ford engineer had commented that if someone raised the concern through the dealer service department and the service writer chose to document the concern as an engineering issue, then Ford engineering theoretically could correct the calibration... Too many ifs and ands for me to bother with.

Mine sounds like playing cards in bicycle spokes. It happens throughout the turn. Did not happen before so this is new for me.

Oh.

I have heard this before but only when it's dead silent in the car... no radio, no fan noise, etc.

I didn't think much of it?

Mine does it too, especially you can hear it with the automatic parking.

I have an appointment to have it checked, it's not normal. In my other cars you can't hear anything at all.

AWD and only 1300km

Yes the GT that I have does the same thing it comes and goes based on the heat of the cabin for some reason. As a side I have noticed this issue with mini Ford cars Ford flex Ford escape Ford Mustang.

Any updates on this? I’m hearing something similar on my MME and I’m wondering if there is any point in having the dealer look at it.

Hey there! I can look into your Mach-E’s noise concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

They haven't looked at it yet, I have an appointment next month.

But it is very annoying to be turning the steering wheel and hearing a loud click every time you are turning.

My dealer thinks it's something to do with the turn signal system.

I just got my car back from the dealer to look a this clicking sound. They checked some things in the steering column and said everything looked good. And they said that faint clicking sound I was hearing was "normal". Said they compared it to a new Mach E on their lot. I don't know. I don't specifically remember hearing it when I first got it, but now I have documentation that it was something I was concerned about before the warranty expired in case it gets worse later.

But the dealer applied the wireless charging pad TSB while they had it and gave me a second key fob. So not a total waste of time.

And thanks to @Ford Motor Company for working with the dealer to get me a loaner vehicle while they were checking it out.
