Installed Hubbell HBL9450A outlet in garage

What is recommended plastic "outdoor" cover that will protect car door from hitting the outlet but that will allow charger to be connected to outlet with plastic cover closed?

How does a cover on an outlet protect a car door from hitting it?

Better to hit soft plastic cover than hard plastic/metal outlet.

Maybe try one of those foam hose-bib insulators. May have to make some modifications but that's an inexpensive DIY solution...

I suppose its a little late to change the outlet location, but did you have a choice in where to have it installed?
Rear wall of the garage, ceiling, or front wall (if space between two doors) all would have been better places to put the outlet.
Most EVSEs have at least a 20ft cable, so getting the outlet close to the side of the car isn't necessary.

Too late to move.

My wife parks her Palisade on that side of the garage and she is concerned. That's why I'm looking for a soft plastic cover. Once my Mach-E comes in (production 1/10), I'll be parking there and, since the Mach-E dimensions are different than the Palisade, the problem goes away.

Couldn't she just start parking the Palisade in her future parking spot before your Mach-E arrives so that the problem can go away early?

I can't wait to hear the reason why this is not an option :p

Well, at least no Mach E is in danger of having its door dented in your setup.

Every outlet cover I've ever seen (and they're all 120, not 240), is hard plastic. Hit it hard enough, and door might dent.

No idea what outlet cover fits on a 240 outlet. I would simply wrap it in bubble wrap for now.

Cut a pool noodle and hot glue gun it to the outside of the hard plastic cover. Pool Noodles Solve All Problems!!!
