I get a special charging rate between 11PM and 6AM from my utility. I set the preferred charge time in the App… when I check my power draw statistics from my Chargepoint Flex it appears that the car draws power up to 1hr prior to my selected charge start time. Anyone else experiencing this? I’m going to set my preferred time one hour later to compensate… but it’s annoying. Also, the App appears very buggy when setting preferred charge times.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the recent time change back to standard time?

As you mention, setting the charge schedule in the app is reported to be buggy. You might try setting it in the car instead. I use the schedule set in the car.

maybe? I think my phone, car, and charger are all set to the same time zone. It appears from the charging station stats that it ramps up one hour prior to the preferred charging time so it peaks at the desired charge time… but I’d prefer to have the whole charging activity occur within the lower electric rate window… just an FYI in case it’s happening to others… I wouldn’t have caught it if I hadn’t compared the info between my car and charging station data.

Check the settings in the car, that is the best way.
Might want to check the time on your EVSE as well. It might be off an hour?

Sometimes the car will charge outside the schedule if there isn't enough time in the scheudle to reach the target charge level. Just an FYI.....

I set the DTE charge schedule (11 PM to 9AM) in the car and on the ChargePoint Home Flex (ChargePoint app). This acts as a backup to keep the car from going off schedule!

This is likely the reason. Can't hit the target in 7 hrs.

It happens when there is more than enough time to charge… I might just be topping off my 80% target and it still does this even though I have a 7hr charging window and it only uses 3 hrs to top off… still will start charging early.

So there is an easy fix, or the "I need to waste my time figuring out Ford's logic fix". Which do you want?

Easy fix - Set the ChargePoint Flex to only charge during the utility's off-peak rates. Should be easy to change, and to override when necessary, in the app. I do this with my JuiceBox 48.

The other solution, which is wasting your time, is to try and figure out why the car doesn't think it's going to get enough juice during the hours it's supposed to charge. I can tell you that when I charge, if I go into the JuiceBox app, it says I'll be done hours and hours from now, because it can't tell if the car has 80% or 10%. If I used the FordPass app, it forecasts a bit better, but way longer than I know it will take. It also doesn't know what it's plugged into. Is my JB48 giving 32amps, or 48 amps? Does it even know, or care?

Thanks for the feedback. Fail safe of throttling this at the charger makes sense. Just wish the car was smart enough to do this by itself… assuming it can be tell or be taught how much juice is being delivered at your home.
