"zero successes before today, zero today" ??

As someone in the software industry as well, reality often doesn't match testing for lots of unexpected reasons. Not saying this is a good thing but saying I understand how these things can happen. The number of setup and upgrade failures I have personally fought because of the field having some unexpected thing versus the test environment could fill a book, I suspect.

Now, let's see how fast this is fixed, and if it ever happens again.
I can attest to that fact. No matter how much testing you do an end user will find a way to break it that you never thought of.

There are a lot of Ford employees and employees of Ford contractors lurking here. I’m personally inclined to believe him until proven otherwise. I hope this is a quick fix regardless of why it happened or which program, app, module or planetary alignment caused it.
I think the term you are looking for is "Agile software development" ?

I'll see myself out of this thread now ....

I’m a pilot. We called the airline equivalent, “Interest based bargaining.”

Yeah that only enriched the TLA, Synonym, and Obfuscation of Old Ideas Department. :p

Updated to the new version when I got home, zero issues. Doors unlocked no problem, car started no problem. FOB was completely out of range as well.

If anything changes in the next few days I'll chime in.

Curious. Almost like it works for some and not others, like maybe testing occurred and missed some particular scenario. ?

It's very strange how some people have issues and others don't. Even with the same phone. I have a lot of assumptions that I would ask my developers to look at if it was my team, but it's not worth boring people here with my assumptions.

EDIT: I swear I didn't copy @GoGoGadgetMachE ... We just think alike, which is frightening!

As the FordPass Android Tech Lead, it is disheartening to read this thread. I pinged my colleagues just now, and they were shocked and will start the investigation immediately tomorrow morning.
So far, we believe the only change about Paak going into the new Android release 3.35 was to relieve the battery drain by avoiding excessively checking the vehicle status.
Release testing was certainly in place before the new release went to the public, but we will dig into the root cause and get back to you.
Sincere apologies!
Thanks for posting. Great to see proof that Ford employees and contractors are trying to deliver the best value and care about their quality of work. Nobody expects perfect. Besides, where is the fun in that? It matters more to me how we find our balance after we get tripped up a bit.

While unfortunate this occurred. Something good and useful is bound to come of it in the end and possibly benefit many others down the road.

Two things:

1. you guys are convincing me to abandon my 99+% reliable PAAK and go with a FOB only. Beacause disaster looms.

2. The bottom advertisement on this page was a advertisement for an aftermarket FOB company.

It’s destiny I tell you.

I'm not going to carry a FOB and I started this thread (at least within 100 miles). Sh*t happens. I've had a great PaaK experience so far, beside this encounter. Now I know ... only update when home.

The only reason I would carry one if I went on a long trip is because if there was an issue and the vehicle needed to be towed I wouldn't be able to give my phone to the tow truck driver to take with the car. Or if someone else needed to drive the car etc (i.e. a fancy car wash).

I won't "carry" my FOB either, it's too damn big ? .

I did wrap my FOB in foil and put it in a zip lock bag inside the car. That's a questionable practice in itself, but is a temporary measure until I come up with a more secure method of keeping the key with me (without it being in my pocket).
