Dropped my car off at the airport on Monday where it is plugged into a level 1 charger. Weather is not very cold (30s) yet the car is in deep sleep mode. I have never had this happen before to include last winter in sub-zero temps. It is a first edition and an early build so worried I am coming home to a brick. Any idea what would cause this to happen? I guess I will find out tomorrow when I land but curious what would cause this as its plugged in and the weather is not all that cold.

Thanks much!!

How are you aware the car is in deep sleep? Does it send a notification to your phone?

Fordpass tells me when I fire up the app as it can not connect to the car.

Deep Sleep mode is normal if the car hasn't been used for several days. Mine does this from time to time. It's not a problem.

When you switch off the car, there are a number of modules that continue to stay on ... using power from the 12v battery. When the car is off, the high-voltage battery is disconnected -- so everything in the car using any power is getting it from the 12v system.

One of the modules is tasked with monitoring the state of charge on the 12v. If it gets too low it will charge the 12v either from AC power (if plugged in) or the high-voltage battery (if not plugged in).

But ... if the car hasn't been used in a few days, it will turn off some of the modules to reduce power consumption. This is the deep-sleep mode.

Thanks for the responses and makes me feel better. Was only a day before it was in deep sleep mode. Will find out tomorrow and hopefully I am not calling in a tow. Thanks again.

Mine is a late 2021 build and it goes into deep sleep all the time because I don’t drive every day. Totally fine.

I didn't realize that deep sleep interferes with FordPass connecting to the car. Good to know.

I suppose you could set a Departure schedule daily when parked at the airport (turning off cabin temp). That should keep the car from going into deep sleep and possibly ensure your 12v is maintained while on that L1 plug. Should work maybe?

Was kind of pisses me off the most is it was in about a month ago getting the PAAK UPDATE. Guess no one thought to apply the 12v batter tsb.

Open frunk with front bumper connectors.

Jump 12v to start car, or quick charge 12v to start car.

Ya. So being at the airport arriving home I dont have the tools to be popping panels and such to get to the battery connections. They can tow and fix it themselves and apply the update they should of done when it was in last time. If they dont fit i will run up and do it tomorrow.

Big time bummer. Last thing you need when coming back from a long trip. And you had it on plug the whole time too. Really no excuse for the LVB to go flat while on plug. Very disappointing. I would have NEVER thought Ford would have messed up the software that badly. For the last couple of decades they have been masters of multiple layers of redundancy.

Kinda diminishes the car's usefulness when we can't leave it at the airport with confidence. I can deal with not taking road trips due to poor L3 performance but anxiety about the LVB after a flight home is really difficult to accept.

Sorry that happened to you.
